In a plating method for mounting a tubular workpiece having openings at both ends in an axial direction thereof on a power feeding clip and immersing the tubular workpiece in a circulated plating solution to plate the tubular workpiece, the mounting of the tubular workpiece on the power feeding clip is performed by inserting the power feeding clip into the tubular workpiece from one of the openings of the tubular workpiece. The power feeding clip is configured by a folded metal plate, and includes a plurality of elastic contact pieces that can elastically contact the inner surface of the tubular workpiece to hold the tubular workpiece and supply power to the tubular workpiece, and a restraining part that is located inside the tubular workpiece and restrains flow of the plating solution in the axial direction.

Further, the multi-core fiber has a mode field diameter of 5.0 &#x3bc;m or larger at a wavelength of 1100 nm, the multi-core fiber provides single-mode propagation at the wavelength of 1100 nm, the multi-core fiber has a bending loss of 1 dB/turn or less at the wavelength of 1100 nm when the multi-core fiber is bent at a radius of 2 mm, and the multi-core fiber has a crosstalk between cores of &#x2212;30 dB/km or less.

An optical waveguide element includes: a cladding portion made of silica-based glass; and a plurality of optical waveguides positioned in the cladding portion and made of silica-based glass in which ZrOcrystal particles are dispersed. The optical waveguide element is a planar lightwave circuit. The plurality of optical waveguides configure an arrayed waveguide grating element.

An optical waveguide circuit device includes: an optical waveguide circuit including a cladding layer formed on a substrate and made from silica-based glass, and an optical waveguide formed within the cladding layer and made from silica-based glass; heaters formed over the cladding layer and the optical waveguide and configured to heat the optical waveguide; wiring line electrode layers formed over the cladding layer, each of the wiring line electrode layers being coupled to a corresponding heater of the heaters and configured to allow electrical power to be supplied to the coupled heater; and an insulating layer covering the cladding layer, the heaters, and the wiring line electrode layers.
