A method of detecting a contact state of resistive touch panel device includes measuring a potential at both ends of a first resistive film, as viewed in a first direction, as a first-film-potential. At this time, the both ends of the first resistive film are short circuited, and a predetermined current is applied between both ends of a second resistive film, as viewed in a second direction. The method further includes measuring a potential at the both ends of the second resistive film as a second-film-potential. At this time, the both ends of the second resistive film are short circuited, and the current is applied between the both ends of the first resistive film. The method further includes deriving distance information between two contact points of the first and the second resistive film, based on the first-film-potential and the second-film-potential.

Method of detecting contact state of resistive touch panel device, touch panel device, and display device

A method of detecting a contact state includes measuring first, second, third and fourth potentials. The method further includes deriving distance information between two points when a first resistive film contacts a second resistive film at the two points, based on the first, second, third and fourth potentials. The first, second, third and fourth potentials are potentials at fourth, second, third and fourth end regions, respectively, in first, second, third and fourth states, respectively. A first end region is an end region, as viewed in a first direction, and the second end region is an end region opposite to the first end region of the first resistive film. The third end region is an end region, as viewed in a second direction, and the fourth end region is an end region opposite to the third end region of the second resistive film.

Two kinds of alternation signals, that is, an alternation signal for odd-numbered electrodes and an alternation signal for even-numbered electrodes, are input to an SEG driver. In accordance with those signals, the SEG driver reverses, at different timings, the polarity of SEG drive signals which are output to odd-numbered signal electrodes and the polarity of SEG drive signals which are output to even-numbered signal electrodes. As a result, spikes are generated before and after the timing of a polarity reversal of an alternation control signal which is input to a COM driver. Further, the SEG driver reverses, at the same timing and in different directions, the polarity of the SEG drive signals which are output to the odd-numbered signal electrodes and the polarity of the SEG drive signals which are output to the even-numbered signal electrodes. By so doing, the crosstalk due to the spikes is reduced.

Liquid crystal display apparatus and method for driving the same

A misfire diagnosis apparatus for an internal combustion engine is shown including initial acceleration judging unit, delay unit, and a misfire judging unit. The initial acceleration judging unit operates to judge the initial state of a starting acceleration or a gear shift acceleration on the basis of the detected result of acceleration detecting unit. Subsequently, the delay unit operates to stop a misfire judgement for a predetermined time period when the initial acceleration is judged. The misfire judging unit operates to start the misfire judgement operation after a lapse of a predetermined delay time period. Since the misfire judgement is stopped during the initial acceleration, erroneous diagnoses of misfirings are avoided.

Misfire diagnosis apparatus for an internal combustion engine

An idling speed control system is arranged such that idling speed of an automotive engine is controlled to a desired idling speed. The system has a memory for storing data for changing the desired idling speed. The data are applied by operating an outside instrument through a communication system. The desired idling speed is changed with the data stored in the memory, so that the predetermined idling speed is changed.

A system for diagnosing a motor vehicle has a diagnosis device including a computer having a central processing unit and a ROM. The ROM stores a plurality of programs for diagnosing an electronic control system for controlling an engine. A communication system is provided in the diagnosis device for supplying a trouble check signal to the electronic control system. In response to the trouble check signal, the electronic control system derives the trouble data from the nonvolatile memory and sends the trouble data to the diagnosis device.

A system for diagnosing a motor vehicle has a diagnosis device including a computer having a central processing unit and an input/output interface, a first connector for connecting the input/output interface to the control system. A memory cartridge is detachably connected to the diagnosis device through a second connector. First auxiliary terminals are provided on the first connector for connecting the diagnosis device with the control system, and second auxiliary terminals are provided on the second connector. The first auxiliary terminals are connected with the second auxiliary terminals through communication lines provided in the diagnosis device, and the second auxiliary terminals are connected with the input/output interface through communication lines provided in the memory cartridge.

An indicator section and a display are provided. The diagnosis device has a control unit. The control unit receives input and output data of an element in the electronic control system and drives the indicator to indicate operating conditions of the element in accordance with the input and output data. On the other hand, the display displays an identification code of the element.

A system for diagnosing a motor vehicle has a diagnosis device including a computer having a central processing unit and a RAM and ROM. The ROM stores a plurality of programs for diagnosing an electronic control system for controlling an engine. The ROM stores data for displaying abbreviations of an input diagnosis mode. Data for an abbreviation is derived from the ROM in accordance with the input diagnosis mode and the abbreviation is displayed on a display in accordance with the data.

An electronic control system mounted on a motor vehicle has an identification code representing the type of the vehicle. A control unit provided in a diagnosis device selects a diagnosis program for diagnosing the control system from a plurality of diagnosis programs in accordance with the identification code. A keyboard is provided for inputting another identification code. The control unit responds to the other identification code input with the keyboard for selecting the diagnosis program.

There is disclosed an air-fuel ratio control system for an automotive engine having a fuel injection system including injectors, an intake air quantity measuring system including an intake air quantity sensor, and a canister purge control system corresponding to a necessity. The air-fuel ratio control system comprises a learning designation circuit for selecting a learning region for the measuring system or the injection system, a measuring system learning circuit for learning a correction amount of the measuring system responsive to the selection of the designation circuit, an injection system learning circuit for learning a correction amount of the injection system responsive to the selection, and a fuel quantity setting circuit for setting the quantity in dependency on an engine speed and an intake air quantity and for setting an actual fuel injection quantity by correcting the basic fuel injection quantity with the both correction amount.

Air-fuel ratio control system for automotive engine

Malfunctions in an exhaust gas recirculation system, particularly on manual transmission vehicles which may be accelerated during a startup period with a rapid succession of upshifts during which exhaust gas recirculation is suspended, is detected from the output of a thermistor positioned on the passageway of the recirculating exhaust gas. In order to allow for the unavoidable delay in gas temperature measurement by the thermistor, a prescribed length of delay time is set up on commencement of exhaust gas recirculation as manifested by the fact that a predetermined set of engine operating conditions have all become satisfied. During the delay time, periods during which exhaust gas actually recirculates are cumulatively summed up, and the sum is compared upon lapse of the delay time with a reference time which is less than the delay time. A possible malfunction in the exhaust gas recirculation system is detected on the basis of the maximum temperature of the recirculating exhaust gas only in cases where the sum is not less than the reference time. A warning will be given if the maximum gas temperature is found not more than a predetermined limit value.

Malfunction detection of an engine exhaust gas recirculation system

A throttle position sensor is provided for detecting opening degree of the throttle valve at regular intervals to produce an opening degree signal dependent on the detected opening degree. A memory has a stored opening degree signal. A detected opening degree signal detected by the sensor is compared with an opening degree signal stored in the memory. The stored opening degree signal is rewritten with the detected opening degree signal when the latter is larger than the former. Thus, a signal representing a maximum opening degree is stored in the memory.

Kick down control system

A system for controlling speed of an engine for a motor vehicle having an air-conditioner at idling of an automotive engine. The engine has a fuel injection system, a bypass provided around a throttle valve, an auxiliary air valve, and a control unit responsive to the closing of an air-conditioner switch for the air-conditioner for opening the auxiliary air valve, thereby increasing intake air. In response to the closing of the air-conditioner switch the quantity of fuel injected in the engine is temporarily increased, thereby increasing engine speed in accordance with the increase of the intake air.

Engine speed control system for an automotive engine

An engine has a bypass around a throttle valve and a solenoid operated idle speed control valve provided in the bypass. The control valve is driven by driving pulses duty ratio of which is dependent on a coolant temperature and an old learning correction value. Temperature of a solenoid of the control valve is converted to voltage. A map is provided for storing normal temperature duty ratios, one of which is derived from the map in dependence on duty ratio of the driving pulses and the voltage. Difference between the duty ratio of the driving pulses and the derived normal temperature duty ratio is stored in a memory. When an ignition switch is turned off, the difference is added to the old learning correction value to produce a new learning correction value. The new learning correction value is used for a subsequent engine operation instead of the old learning correction value.
