A system with which any abnormality can be easily found is provided. A system includes: a first modulator that generates a control signal and modulates an input signal in accordance with the generated control signal, to control luminance of a first light source that emits light according to the modulated input signal, the first modulator outputting the control signal; a second modulator that acquires the control signal output from the first modulator and modulates an input signal in accordance with the control signal, to control luminance of a second light source that emits light according to the modulated input signal, the second modulator outputting the control signal. The first modulator generates, as a light ID signal, a control signal for transmitting a visible light signal by luminance variations of the first light source, and acquires a light information signal being the control signal output from the second modulator.

Modulation system and modulation method

A system with which any abnormality can easily be found is provided. A system includes: a first modulator that generates a control signal and modulates an input signal in accordance with the generated control signal, to control luminance of a first light source that emits light according to the modulated input signal, the first modulator outputting the control signal; and a second modulator that acquires a control signal output from the first modulator and modulates an input signal in accordance with the control signal, to control luminance of a second light source that emits light according to the modulated input signal. The first modulator generates, as an extinguishing signal, the control signal for extinguishing the first light source by an extinguishing period. After a lapse of the extinguishing period, the first modulator generates, as a light ID signal, the control signal for transmitting a visible light signal by luminance variations of the first light source.

A contactless charging system is made up of an electronic device and a contactless chargerthat recharges the electronic device in a contactless manner. The electronic device transmits a full charge command indicating completion of charge. Upon receipt of the full charge command, the contactless charger shifts to a charge stop state in which charge of the electronic device is not performed. In the charge stop state, the contactless charger generates a load check signal for checking whether or not the electronic device is placed in the contactless charger in a rechargeable state, and transmits the signal. Further, the contactless charger also generates a charge restart check command for checking whether or not the electronic device requests recharge in a charge stop state, and transmits the command.

Contactless battery charger, electronic device, battery pack, and contactless charging system

An object of the present invention is to provide an electronic device capable of receiving payment of a charge required for a charging process even though a secondary battery of the electronic device ran into an overdischarge state and also extricating itself from the overdischarge state, and a charger used for the same. A charger () executes a power transmission before it conducts a proximity noncontact communication with an electronic device (), continues this power transmission until a preliminary charging stop notification signal is sent from the electronic device (), and conducts the proximity noncontact communication regarding to a billing process with the electronic device () when the preliminary charging stop notification signal is sent. After the communication regarding to the billing process is ended, the charger () gives a charge of electricity to the electronic device () again. The electronic device () charges a secondary battery () by using the power transmission, then executes the charging up to a level at which the proximity noncontact communication regarding to the billing process can be conducted, then conducts the proximity noncontact communication regarding to the billing process with the charger (), and then restarts the power transmission from the charger () to execute the charging until the secondary battery () is fully charged. In this manner, the noncontact charging and the proximity noncontact communication are executed between the electronic device () and the charger () in a time-division system.

An object of the present invention is to provide an electronic device which is capable of conducting a proximity noncontact communication even if charging of a secondary battery is not fully completed and also whose secondary battery never falls into an overdischarge state during the proximity noncontact communication. An electronic device () employs a secondary battery (), which is rechargeable by a charger () that gives a charge of electricity in a noncontact manner, as a power source, and is capable of conducting a proximity noncontact communication with the charger (). The electronic device () repeats a charging process, in which this equipment charges the secondary battery () for a predetermined period (Tb) by receiving a supply of an electric power from the charger () via a noncontact power-receiving secondary coil (), and a communication process, in which this equipment conducts a data communication for a predetermined period (Ta) when a voltage of the secondary battery () at a time of charging start is below a predetermined value (Va), and also repeats a charging process, in which this equipment charges the secondary battery () for a predetermined period (Tb) by receiving a supply of the electric power from the charger () via the noncontact power-receiving secondary coil (), and a communication process, in which this equipment conducts the data communication for a predetermined period (Ta)(&#x3e;Ta) when the voltage of the secondary battery () at a time of charging start is more than a predetermined value (Va).

An electronic apparatus includes a housing having a predetermined face; a power receiver that receives electric power in a contactless manner by way of the predetermined face; a secondary battery that is charged by electric power received by the power receiver; a front-back detection unit that detects whether or not the predetermined face faces a charger; and an alarm unit that notifies that the predetermined face is situated at a position inappropriate for charging when the front-back detection unit detects that the predetermined face does not face the charger.
