A biometrics authentication device utilizes biometrics information and performs individual authentication enables secure modification of authorization details for an authorized agent other than the principal. A verification device verifies biometrics information registered on an IC card against biometrics information detected by a detection unit. When results in satisfactory biometrics authentication, modification of authorization details of an authorized agent, registered on the IC card, is permitted. Authorization details for an authorized agent can be securely modified on a card on which biometrics information for the principal and the authorized agent is registered.

A biometrics authentication system uses biometrics authentication media to simplify the process of issuing biometrics authentication media, and reduce issuing costs. A biometrics authentication application is downloaded from a server to a mobile communication terminal, and an area for authenticated biometrics information is created. A user brings this mobile communication terminal to a service area and causes an image of his own biometrics information to be captured, and this biometrics data and an account number are stored in a common area of the mobile communication terminal. Therefore, the mobile communication terminal has functions of an individual card storing biometrics information, and issuing of a card for use in biometrics authentication is completed.

Biometrics authentication method and biometrics authentication system

A biometrics authentication system using biometrics media simplifies the process, and reduces the costs, of issuing a portable communication terminal having biometrics functions. A biometrics application program is downloaded from a server to a portable communication terminal, an area for authenticated biometrics information is caused to be created, and biometrics information on an individual card of the user is stored in a common area of the portable communication terminal. Thus, the portable communication terminal has the functions of an individual card storing biometrics information, and the portable communication terminal can be used as an individual card for biometrics authentication.

A biometrics authentication device, which uses blood vessel images of a human body to perform individual authentication, performs verification processing according to a detected body temperature. A temperature sensor, which detects the temperature of a body, is provided in a blood vessel image capture device. The temperature at the time of registration of a blood vessel image is stored together with the blood vessel image, and the temperature of the body at the time of use (at the time of verification) is detected; the temperature difference at the time of registration and at the time of use is reflected in the verification processing, and when there is a verification error, the cause of the verification error is judged from the temperatures at the time of registration and at the time of use. Whether a verification error is due to temperature can be easily distinguished.

Within an IC card, registered biometrics information of a principal is verified against biometrics information detected by a detection unit, and when biometrics authentication of the principal is satisfactory, access is permitted to modify data for an authorized agent in the IC card, so that biometrics information for the authorized agent can be securely modified in a card in which is registered biometrics information for the principal. Similarly, illicit modification access of a card in which is registered biometrics information of the principal by a person impersonating an authorized agent can be prevented.

Biometrics information for the authorized agent can be registered securely in the card in which is registered the biometrics information for the principal.
