An information management device that manages the processing result of a print job processed by a print device through a network includes an information acquisition unit, an information output unit, a time setting unit, and a polling unit that performs an acquisition polling process in which the information acquisition unit acquires information on the print job that has been completed from the print device at a time when the information acquisition unit acquires the information on the print completion from the print device before the set waiting time elapses after the information output unit outputs the print job to the print device, and performs a checking polling process in which the information acquisition unit checks the print device for completion information at a time when the set waiting time elapses in a state that the information acquisition unit does not acquire the completion information from the print device.

There is provided a device status notification device that notifies a notification destination, which is connected to a network, of a status change in a device connected to the network through the network. The device status notification device includes a notification destination information table in which a notification destination, to which the status change in the device is notified in a case where there is the status change in the device, is registered, a notification destination validity checking unit that checks whether the notification destination registered in the notification destination information table exists with validity, and a registration deleting unit that deletes the notification destination, of which valid existence cannot be checked by the notification destination validity checking unit, from the notification destination information table.

The technique of the present invention intermediates between an arbitrary client and an arbitrary printer connecting with a network to actualize practical printing works. A print portal system utilizing a server connected to the network intermediates between the client and the printer to execute a printing operation. The client outputs a printing requirement, which specifies print data of interest and a printer as an output resource, to the print portal system. The print portal system converts the input print data into data of a general purpose format, which does not depend upon the type of the printer, and transfers the converted print data to the specified printer.

The technique of the invention attains a practical printing system between arbitrary clients and printers connecting with a network. An intermediation server connecting with the network is interposed between the clients and the printers to intermediate printing. Each client sends a printing request, which includes selection of print data and specification of a printer as an output destination, to the intermediation server. The intermediation server converts the selected print data into a general purpose format, which does not depend upon the type of the printer, and transfers the converted print data to the specified printer.

Disclosed is a device management network system that is capable of monitoring all abnormalities that has occurred in a network device. The device management network system includes a management server, client devices, and network devices to be managed. The management server, when receiving a device-details screen request from a certain client device running a Web browser, collects MIB objects from the printing device specified by the information in the device-details screen request. Then, the management server provides the client device with data which causes the Web browser to display the device-details screen containing information about all abnormalities that has occurred in the printing device.

A device management network system is capable of monitoring the operation status of network devices in real time with a Web browser without wasting network resources. The device management network system includes a management server, client devices, and network devices to be managed. Each of the network devices transmits an SNMP trap indicating a change of its own operation status to the management server when a status change occurs. In response to a device-details screen request from a client device, the management server provides HTML data, by which the client device running the Web browser is caused to execute a displaying applet for displaying a device-details screen and to execute a notifying applet causing displaying applet to be re-executed in response to receipt of a change notifying packet, which is outputted from the management server receiving the SNMP trap from the network device.
