In a light projecting apparatus including a laser light source, a light projecting apparatus is divided into a laser-light-source module and a light-projecting optical module. In the laser-light-source module NOR laser beams from a plurality of laser light sources are combined by a beam combiner. The laser-light-source module and the light-projecting optical module are connected to each other by an optical fiber in a cable. A laser beam formed by the beam combiner is transmitted through the optical fiber to the light-projecting optical module, received by a fiber receptacle, and projected. In the laser-light-source module NOR a fiber-breakage countermeasure section that detects breakage of the optical fiber and takes countermeasures against the breakage is disposed.

More than one (for example, 2.sup.3 =8) interpolation area is set for data x. Output image data Y at the start end x(i) of each interpolation area is expressed using a proportional component X of the data x and an offset component Y(i) from the proportional component X. Input data positioned in the interpolation area, at a location other than the start end, is computed as Y=X+Y(i)+.DELTA.Y, where .DELTA.Y is a variation of the offset component Y(i) corresponding to a distance .DELTA.x from the start end x(i) to the input data. Since an interpolation data register only has to store the offset components Y(i), Y(i+1), . . . , the number of levels can be increased while a capacity of the interpolation data register remains substantially the same. Consequently, it is possible to increase the number of levels in a level correcting circuit for generating output image data through .gamma. correction, while maintaining the circuit size.

Method and apparatus of correcting image data levels

An image processing apparatus is provided with (1) a linear CCD for, upon receipt of an image in the form of light, serially outputting an analog signal, or a signal of each pixel of the image, in sync with and under the control of a first clock, (2) a digital converting circuit for receiving the analog image signal and converting the same into a digital image signal in sync with and under the control of a second clock, and (3) a driving circuit for generating the first and second clocks in such a manner that the rising edges in the former are skipped with respect to those in the latter. Thus, the present apparatus can enlarge an original image only by generating the first clock to have fewer rising edges than the second clock by periodical skipping, thereby making it possible to simplify the enlarged-scale processing.

An image processing apparatus is furnished with (1) a tabletop main body, (2) a readout scanner, attachable to and detachable from the main body, for outputting readout image data, (3) a portable memory pack, attachable to and detachable from the scanner, for storing image data from the scanner, and (4) a control section for, when the portable memory pack and main body are connected to each other, controlling the main body and memory pack in such a manner that the latest first correction data stored in the main body are transmitted to the memory pack to update second correction data stored in the memory pack, so that the image data in the pack memory are corrected based on the updated second correction data. Thus, the portable memory pack of the present image processing apparatus obviates measuring means for measuring correction data, and therefore, can be downsized.

A facsimile apparatus and a telephone set are connected to one telephone line in parallel with each other. A voltage variation .DELTA.V caused by closing and opening of a DC circuit of the telephone set is detected via an off-hook detector of the facsimile apparatus to establish the operation mode of the telephone set. The detected operation mode of the telephone set is stored in a RAM. The detected mode of the telephone set, and thus the closing and opening of the DC circuit of the telephone set, is displayed and/or printed.

In a facsimile circuit monitor system, a control signal to be transmitted or received is initially converted into an easily stored code to be stored in a memory. When a certain signal has been received, a signal level is calculated on the basis of actual gain of an AGC (automatic gain control) and stored in the memory so that information stored in the memory may be outputted.

A color converting method in a color image reading apparatus operable to read image information by optically scanning a color transcript, which method comprises the steps of dividing a color space determined by light data of R, G and B into n areas, at the time light data of R, G and B obtained from light reflected from the color transcript are converted into Y (yellow), M (magenta) and C (cyan) data, which are color data for an ink, by the use of matrix coefficients; and converting the light data into color data with the use of matrix coefficients obtained by an approximate equation fixed for each area.
