An electrode for a cell includes a resin current collector that is planate and contains a resin and an electrically conductive filler, and an electrode active material layer that is disposed on at least one surface side of the resin current collector and that contains electrode active material particles. The resin current collector includes an electrically conductive layer on its surface side facing the electrode active material layer, the electrically conductive layer having configuration with recesses and projections. This configuration with recesses and projections satisfies the relationship given by formula (1): h/tan &#x3b8;&#x3c;D, in which h is the average height of the configuration with recesses and projections, &#x3b8; is the average inclination angle of the configuration with recesses and projections, and D is the average particle diameter of the electrode active material particles. A cell includes the electrode for a cell described above.

The object is to develop a resin for a toner, which has both of hot offset resistance and a low-temperature fixing property even when used in a high-speed and energy-saving toner. Thus, disclosed is a resin for a toner, which comprises a polyester resin (A) having a THF insoluble fraction content of 1 to 36 wt %, a peak top molecular weight of 4500 to 20000 as measured by gel permeation chromatography on a THF soluble fraction, and a softening point of 120 to 180&#xb0; C., and meeting the requirements represented by the following formulae (1) and (2):(Acid value)/(hydroxyl value)&#x2267;1 (acid value=15 to 80 mgKOH/g, hydroxyl value&#x2267;3.0 mgKOH/g)&#x2003;&#x2003;Formula (1)(A numeric value of the THF-insoluble fraction content expressed in % by weight)/(a numeric value of the softening point expressed in degree &#xb0; C.)&#x2266;0.2&#x2003;&#x2003;Formula (2).

Resin for toner and toner composition

A toner and a resin for toner are provided which are of good low-temperature fixing ability and good anti-blocking property of toner at high temperature and high humidity and good pulverisability. The present invention is directed to a resin for toner, the resin comprising a polyester resin (A) produced by reacting a polyester resin (a) having an acid value of 6 mgKOH/g or less and a hydroxyl value of 10 to 80 mgKOH/g with at least one carboxylic acid (b) selected from the group consisting of aliphatic carboxylic acids, aromatic carboxylic acids, their anhydrides and lower alkyl (C1-C4) esters, wherein the equivalent ratio OHa/COOHb is 0.55 to 1.0 where OHa represents the equivalent of the hydroxyl groups originating in (a) in the reaction of (a) and (b) and COOHb represents the equivalent of the carboxyl groups originating in (b) in the reaction of (a) and (b), and wherein the polyester resin (A) has an acid value of 13 to 50 mgKOH/g and a hydroxyl value of 8 mgKOH/g or less; and a toner composition including the same.

An antibacterial water absorbing composition is provided which can suppress putrefaction by inhibiting the proliferation of fungus, microorganisms, etc. contained in urine, blood and body fluids, and can exhibits excellent water absorbing ability. The antibacterial water absorbing composition is prepared by mixing a water absorbing resin powder with a porous inorganic powder having absorbed therein an aqueous fluid of an antibacterial component.

Antibacterial water absorbing composition and method of manufacture

An anti-bacterial water absorbing agent having excellent water absorption, anti-bacterial activity, and powder flow properties. The agent is useful in the manufacture of absorbent materials particularly for absorbing urine, blood, and body fluids and the like. The agent comprises a water absorbing resin (A) having pendant acid groups, at least on acid group being in the form of a quaternary ammonium salt having the general formula (1). ##STR1## wherein --X.sup.- is an anionic pendant group covalently bonded to backbone in the water absorbing resin (A) and R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are organic groups. In embodiments, at least one of the organic groups on the ammonium ion is an aliphatic alkyl group having 5 to 20 carbons. At least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is a C.sub.5 to C.sub.20 aliphatic alkyl group. The resin has a quaternary nitrogen atom content of about 2.times.10.sup.-4 % to about 0.8% by weight.

Anti-bacterial water absorbing agent and anti-bacterial water absorbent

The present invention relates to a process for producing improved water-absorbent resin particles comprising the step of treating water-absorbent particles, which are crosslinked polymers of ethylenically unsaturated monomers comprising acrylic acid and/or acrylic acid salt as an essential element, with a modified silicone oil having a functional group which can react with a carboxyl group and/or a carboxylate group in the molecule Improved water-absorbent resin particles obtained by the process have a hygroscopic blocking rate of 20 % or less under a relative humidity of 80 % at 40.degree. C., a dust level of 10 CPM or less and an absorbing characteristic of initial absorbency under load to physiological saline of 20 times or more. The present invention provides water-absorbent resin particles which have an improved hygroscopic blocking rate under high humidity and dust generation rate with a good initial absorbency under load and absorbing capacity.
