A liquid storage container for storing a liquid has a label member attached to a surface thereof. A bonding face of the label member that is bonded to the surface includes a first area and a second area having a low bonding strength. The second area covers a liquid supply port. A score line is formed on the label member, and the score line extends along a boundary between the first area and the second area and is formed in the second area.

A motor control method performed by a controller includes monitoring a motor load of at least one of a plurality of motors including a first motor and a second motor driven by one common power source having a protection circuit, wherein the protection circuit is operated to shut down the power source in a case where a current value of the power source continues to exceed a threshold during a period Tg, and stopping motor drive in a case where the monitored motor load continues to exceed the threshold during a period Tn, which is shorter than the period Tg. In addition, monitoring of the motor load is skipped during acceleration operations of the first motor and the second motor when both the first motor and the second motor are driven, and then monitoring of the motor load is restarted.

Motor control method and print apparatus

A printing device that prints on media held in a tray includes a first roller section including a first conveyance roller; a second roller section including a second conveyance roller and a pinch roller; and a printing section provided between the first and the second roller sections. Printing is performed on the top surface of the media in the printing section while the tray is being conveyed by the first and the second roller sections. The tray is such that friction surfaces having a coefficient of friction that is higher than that of the other portions of the tray are formed in portions that come in contact with the first conveyance roller when the tray is taken in by the first roller section and the tip end of the tray advances to a gripping section between the second conveyance roller and the pinch roller.

A printing apparatus according to the present invention includes a feeding unit, a conveying unit, a printing unit, and a control unit. The control unit performs a successive feeding operation. An operating state of the feeding unit changes between a first operating state and a second operating state in which a feeding stop is more unstable than that in the first operating state, in a period from a start of feeding a printing medium until the printing medium reaches the conveying unit. In the successive feeding operation, a subsequent printing medium is fed without stopping until a leading end of the subsequent printing medium reaches a stoppable position. The stoppable position is arranged on an upstream side of the conveying unit. The subsequent printing medium can be stopped in the first operating state at the stoppable position.

Printing apparatus and control method

A recording apparatus can mount a special recording material, such as a compact disc (CD) or the like, in a state of being accommodated in a tray and perform recording on the special recording material. In this recording apparatus, by an operation of mounting a tray guide into the main body of the recording apparatus, an arm of the tray guide is inserted between a spur base for holding a spur, and a platen for holding sheet discharge rollers. The spur base thereby raises to separate the spur from the sheet discharge roller, and a space to allow passage of the tray is formed.

When a piston unit and a valve unit employed in a recording head of an ink-jet recording apparatus were manufactured by a conventional method, comprising parts for these unit were separately formed and assembled, which required considerable man-hours for the assembly and measures to prevent contamination by foreign particles during the assembly. The present invention is carried out to solve these problems and provides units at less expensive cost. In order to attain above-mentioned objectives the units are formed out of mutually insoluble materials with other parts by an insert molding or a multi-color molding. By employing forming materials with different molding shrinkage rate, desired gas-tightness of the units are attained by keeping moving performances of the units almost intact. In addition a rubber or an elastomer is employed as a material for a part which requires a gas-tightness and flexibility.

A printer assembly providing quick and effective wiping of print heads. The printer assembly includes a carriage for holding a print head and having a slide contact, a slide having a wiper ramp, a carriage contact contactable by the slide contact of the carriage, and a wiper assembly including a base, a post extending from the base, a wiper arm, a wiper latch, a wiper holder, and a wiper blade, wherein the wiper arm is connected to the base such that the wiper arm is raised in a case that the wiper arm ramp moves laterally relative to and while in contact with the wiper arm, the wiper latch is connected to the wiper arm such that the wiper latch latches onto the post extending from the base in a case that the wiper arm is sufficiently raised, the wiper holder is connected to the wiper arm, and the wiper blade is connected to the wiper holder.

Head wiping mechanism for ink jet printer

A cover for an alignment sensor that provides sensor output so as to align printer output from multiple print heads in an ink jet printer. The cover is preferably mounted for hinged movement between an open position and a closed position so that a sensing face of the alignment sensor is protected from ink mist during printing operations. A chassis of the printer may be provided with projections that engage with the cover when the carriage is moved to extreme rightward and leftward positions on the printer, so that the cover may be hinged to the open and closed position simply through movement of the printer carriage. Preferably, the cover is formed of an electrically conductive material with a tab that grounds the cover to a metallic portion of the printer chassis. Forming the cover from an electrically conductive material provides the additional benefit of protecting the alignment sensor from static discharge.

Ink jet recovery process initiated by an information processing apparatus

A printer includes a housing defining a media feed portion and a media eject port, the housing being adapted to house a print engine for printing onto recording media. Included in the printer is a base slideably receivable in the housing at a position laterally distanced from the media eject port, the base having at least a pair of recesses extending in a sliding direction of the base. A pair of flaps are included in the printer, each of which has at least one width portion corresponding to the lateral distance between the base and the eject port. Each flap is hinged into a corresponding recess of the base and is biased in an upward direction via a spring which provides for angular motion of the flap relative to the base. Upon sliding action of the base out of the housing, the flaps are biased upward out of the recesses to a height corresponding to the position of the media eject port.

In a multiple print head printer in which print heads are removable and exchangeable, a method of controlling a printer carriage motor comprises the steps of receiving a print job, the print job comprising print commands and print data, determining a type of print mode to print the print data based on the received print commands, detecting a number of print heads installed in the multiple print head printer, selecting a motor control function for controlling operational speed and direction of the printer carriage motor based on the determined type of print mode and the detected number of print heads.

An ink jet recording apparatus for recording onto a recording medium by discharging ink includes a recorder for recording on the recording medium by discharging the ink through discharge ports, a setting device for setting a line recording mode in which recording is performed for every line or a page recording mode in which the recording is performed over a plurality of lines, with the recorder, and a controller, which, when the line recording mode is set, moves the discharging port face of the recorder outside of a conveyance passage for the recording medium for every termination of recording of one line, and which, when the page recording mode is set, reciprocates the recorder in the conveyance passage to record over a predetermined area, and after termination of recording of the predetermined area, moves the discharging port face of the recorder outside of the conveyance passage, and then conveys the recording medium for discharge from the apparatus.

Control of print cartridge movement in an ink jet recording apparatus

An ink jet recording apparatus having a recording head for ejecting ink, a carriage for carrying the recording head, and a mechanism for adjusting a gap between a recording medium disposed on a platen and the recording head, and a gap adjusting method for adjusting a gap between a recording medium disposed on a platen and a recording head. Bearings attached to the carriage and mounted on a guide shaft are displaceable with respect to the carriage, and the bores of the bearings are eccentric with respect to the guide shaft. This enables the carriage to be displaced in a horizontal plane in accordance with the thickness of recording paper, and to consequently incline the ejection-outlet-array line of the recording head on the carriage. Further, the carriage is pivoted about one of the bearings in a plane including the bearings in accordance with the thickness of the paper.
