An oil pump driving apparatus including a rotation shaft in driving connection with a torque converter, a drive sprocket rotatable about the rotation shaft and adapted to be connected with a driven sprocket disposed on the oil pump via the chain, a first sleeve disposed on a radial outside of the rotation shaft so as to be rotatable together with the torque converter, the first sleeve being engaged with the drive sprocket, a second sleeve fixedly disposed on a radial inside of the first sleeve, a first bearing supporting the first sleeve so as to be rotatable relative to the second sleeve, and a second bearing supporting the drive sprocket so as to be rotatable relative to the second sleeve.

Apparatus for driving an oil pump for automatic transmission

A torque converter is provided which comprises a converter cover for connection to a power source, a pump impeller attached to the converter cover, a turbine for connection to a transmission input shaft, a stator interposed between the pump impeller and the turbine, and a ring gear mounted on the converter cover and adapted to increase moment of inertia of the converter cover.

Torque converter

A method of connecting a starter ring gear connected with a converter cover, and a torque converter including a starter ring gear connected with a converter cover by the method. The method includes setting the starter ring gear at a corner portion of the converter cover in alignment with each other, and producing a plastic flow of metal at the corner portion thereof, the plastic flow of metal forming an engaging member disposed on an outer circumferential surface of a cylindrical wall of the converter cover and engaged with an engaging member disposed on an inner circumferential surface of the starter ring gear, to thereby connect the starter ring gear with the converter cover. The starter ring gear and the converter cover are rotatable about a rotation axis. The corner portion of the converter cover is formed between the cylindrical wall and a disk wall connected therewith.

Method of connecting a starter ring gear with a converter cover and a torque converter including a starter ring gear connected with a converter cover by the method

A torque converter including a stator rotatable about an axis and having a stator hub, and a thrust bearing mounted to the stator hub. The stator hub has a recessed portion that is recessed from one axial end face of the stator hub. The thrust bearing includes a bearing race received by the recessed portion of the stator hub. A coupling connects the bearing race with the stator hub. The coupling includes a first engaging part disposed on an outer periphery of the bearing race and a second engaging part engaged with the first engaging part and disposed on an outer periphery of the recessed portion in opposed relation to the outer periphery of the bearing race. The first and second engaging parts cooperate to prevent a relative rotation between the bearing race and the stator.
