A display panel includes a transparent image recording sheet having electrophotographically formed thereon at least a background portion, wherein space factor of pinholes per unit area of the background portion is no greater than 1&#xd7;10%. A method of manufacturing the display panel is also disclosed. The background portion has a transparent optical density of 3.0 or greater and an image portion has a transparent optical density of 1.0 or less, and preferably 0.1 to 1. A toner used for electrophotographically forming the background portion and the image portion has a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 6,000 and a weight average molecular weight of 30,000 to 150,000 as measured by gel permeation chromatography with respect to a portion of the toner dissolved in tetrahydrofuran, and has respective molecular weight distribution peaks in molecular weight ranges of 1000 to 10,000 and 100,000 to 1,500,000.

An electrophotographic developer and a process for forming an image are provided in that the fixing can be conducted at a lower temperature than the conventional technique, and that are excellent in the powder storage stability, the anti-blocking property and the image storage stability after fixing without impairing the density, the coloring property and the transparency of the image after fixing, and further have appropriate electric charging property without any problem of fogging or cloud with excellent maintenance property of electric charge. The electrophotographic developer contains a toner for developing an electrostatic image containing a coloring agent and a binder resin containing, as a main component, a crystalline resin having a melting point of about from 60 to 120&deg; C., and a carrier having a resin film containing a nitrogen-containing resin on a surface thereof. The process for forming an image is carried out by using the electrophotographic developer.

Image forming method

Provided is an image-forming method including a step of forming a layer of a developer on a surface of a developer support member disposed facing a latent image support member, a developing step of developing an electrostatic latent image on the latent image support member using the layer of the developer formed to obtain a toner image, a transferring step of transferring the toner image onto a transfer material and a fixing step of fixing the transferred toner image, wherein the developer support member has therein a development magnetic pole in which a magnetic force of a main pole is 100 mT or more, said developer having a toner and a carrier which has a volume average particle diameter of 50 .mu.m or less, and image formation method is conducted at a process speed of 200 mm/sec or more. In the image-forming method of the invention, high-quality images free from blurring in a half-tone portion adjacent to a solid image can be formed in a high-speed image-forming process using the two-component developer of a small particle diameter without migration of the carrier into the latent image.

Image-forming method

A developer for replenishment for use in a developing system in which a latent image on a latent image holding member is developed with a developing unit containing a two-component developer comprising a toner and a carrier while replenishing the developer with a developer for replenishment, the developer for replenishment comprising a carrier and from 1 to 30 parts by weight of a toner per 1 part by weight of the carrier, and the developer for replenishment having an electrical resistance substantially equal to that of the carrier previously contained in the developing unit, but giving a larger charge quantity to the toner than the carrier previously contained in the developing unit does. Also disclosed is a developing method using the developer for replenishment.

The present invention provides an electrostatic image developer comprising a toner and a carrier wherein the toner includes toner particles having an average particle diameter of 3 to 9 .mu.m, a hydrophobic silica microparticles having a BET specific surface area of 40 to 120 m.sup.2 /g, and a hydrophobic titanium compound microparticles having a BET specific surface area of 40 to 250 m.sup.2 /g; and wherein the carrier is a resin coated carrier having a coating layer of a resin. The electrostatic image developer can improve the environmental dependency of charging, power fluidity, resistance to caking of a toner and reduced change in charging with time course to provide an image with an excellent image quality for a long period of time.

There is provided an electrostatic charge image developing toner comprising at least a binder resin, a coloring agent, and an aromatic hydrocarbon copolymer resin, wherein, in a toner particle, the percentage of dispersed aromatic hydrocarbon copolymer resin particles having a longitudinal diameter of 2.0 .mu.m or greater among the total number of dispersed aromatic hydrocarbon copolymer is 10% or less. The toner has superior effects of excellent grindability and not melting and adhering to apparatuses, without there being any adverse effect on basic abilities of the toner such as electrostatic charge property, fixing property, color, and the like.

An electrostatic-image developer which comprises: (i) a toner comprising: (a) toner particles containing carbon black in an amount of from 6 to 8% by weight based on the weight of the toner particles and having a volume-average particle diameter of from 3 to 9 .mu.m; and (b) an external additive; and (ii) a resin-coated carrier having a volume resistivity of from 10.sup.7 to 10.sup.11 .OMEGA..multidot.cm in an electric field of 10.sup.3.8 V/cm and an average particle diameter of from 30 to 60 .mu.m.
