An axial displacement judgment device has a first detector acquiring a first detection value from a G sensor which detects an acceleration applied to a radar device, a second detector acquiring a second detection value from a YG sensor which detects the acceleration applied to a vehicle body, and a difference calculator calculating a detection difference value, which is a difference between the first detection value and the second detection value, every first period. The device further has an average difference value calculator calculating an average difference value as an average value of the detection difference values calculated during an acquisition period including the first periods, a deviation calculator calculating a difference standard deviation of the detection difference values calculated during the acquisition period, and a judgment section detecting occurrence of an axial displacement of the radar device based on the average difference value and the difference standard deviation.

Axial displacement judgment device

A determination unit that determines a positional change of a radar apparatus mounted on a vehicle including a vehicle body is provided with a reference member, a displacement sensor and displacement determining means. The reference member is fixed to the vehicle body and disposed such that at least a part of the reference member is adjacent to the radar apparatus. The displacement sensor detects a displacement of the radar apparatus with respect to the reference member. The determining means determines whether or not a position of the radar apparatus has changed with respect to the vehicle body, based on the displacement detected by the displacement sensor.

Apparatus for determining displacement of radar apparatus

An antenna devicehas a dielectric substrate, a patch antennaand electric power absorbing passive elementsformed on a surface of the dielectric substrate. Each electric power absorbing passive elementis formed between the patch antennaand an edge portion in a polarized wave direction of the dielectric substrate. The electric power absorbing passive elementsabsorb a part of electric power received by the patch antenna. This makes it possible to suppress a surface current flowing to the edge portions of the dielectric substrate on a conductive plate (a front-surface conductor plateor a back surface conductor plate) on the dielectric substrate.

Antenna device

An FMCW (frequency modulated continuous wave) radar apparatus is provided. The apparatus transmits a transmission signal that includes a first frequency-rise time period whose frequency sequentially rises with a first modulated gradient, a first frequency-fall time period whose frequency sequentially falls with the first modulated gradient, a second frequency-rise time period whose frequency sequentially rises with a second modulated gradient different from the first modulated gradient, and a second frequency-fall time period whose frequency sequentially falls with the second modulated gradient. In the apparatus, frequencies of a plurality of peaks are specified in respect of each of beat signals obtained in response to the transmission. Using the specified plurality of peaks as objects, a notification is given as to the presence of oscillation in a power supply bias circuit, on the basis of that, of the groups each formed by extracting peaks in a manner of extracting one from each of the beat signals, there is a group in which all the peaks in the group are within the same frequency range.

FMCW radar apparatus

In a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar apparatus, a transmitting section transmits a transmission signal and a receiving section outputs a beat signal. During this output period, a frequency-intensity property of a bias power supply voltage supplied from a power supply bias circuit is obtained. On the basis of determining whether or not the obtained frequency-intensity property satisfies a predetermined oscillation condition, it is checked whether or not there occurs oscillation in the power supply bias circuit.

In a FMCW radar device, a transmission unit transmits a transmission signal that has a rising portion in which the frequency successively increases and a falling portion in which the frequency successively decreases. A reception unit receives a reception signal resulting from the transmission signal being reflected by a target and outputs a beat signal based on the transmission signal and the reception signal. A control unit determines whether or not three or more targets that have the same relative speed are present at the same orientation among a plurality of targets extracted from a plurality of peak frequencies in each of the rising portion and the falling portion of the beat signal, and when determined that three or more targets are present, gives notification that oscillation has occurred in a power supply bias circuit that supplies power supply voltage to the transmission unit or the reception unit.

FMCW radar device

An antenna apparatus includes a dielectric substrate, a ground plate, a patch antenna provided with a patch radiating element, and a plurality of EBGs (Electromagnetic Band Gaps). The EBGs are composed of patch-shaped patterns formed on a surface of the substrate and connecting conductors electrically connecting the patch-shaped patterns and the ground plate. Each EBG is arranged to provide an EBG absent region having no EBG on the surface of the substrate. The patch radiating element is arranged within the EBG absent region. The EBG absent region is formed such that distances (absent distances) in a dominant polarized wave direction changes into a plurality of types depending on the position on a vertical patch line, where the distances range, to the boundary of the region, from an arbitrary position on the virtual patch line which is perpendicular to the dominant polarized wave direction of the patch antenna.

A high-frequency module includes a substrate, an integrated circuit mounted to the substrate, a cylindrical shield enclosing the integrated circuit to block radio waves, a casing provided on an opposite side of the substrate relative to the shield to block radio waves, and a choke portion provided in an inner wall of the casing, the inner wall being opposed to the shield, or provided in the substrate, with a predetermined gap being formed relative to the shield, to create an antiphase in radio waves having a predetermined frequency emitted from the integrated circuit into a space above the substrate.

High-frequency module

An FM-CW radar apparatus is provided which may be employed in automotive anti-collision or radar cruise control systems. The radar apparatus transmits as a radar wave a high-frequency signal which is so modulated in frequency with a modulating signal as to vary with time in the form of a triangular wave and mixes a received signal with a local signal that is part of the transmitted signal to produce a beat signal consisting of a fundamental frequency component as a function of the distance to and relative speed of a target object. The radar apparatus also includes an amplitude modulator which modulates the amplitude of at least one of the transmitted signal, the received signal, and the local signal in accordance with the modulating signal so that the modulation index falls within a range of zero (0) to one (1). This allows harmonic components with an improved SN ratio to be extracted from the beat signal which may be used in calculating the fundamental frequency component of the beat signal.

FM-CW radar system for measuring distance to and relative speed of target

A modulation signal generating section produces a modulation signal for controlling an oscillation frequency of a voltage-controlled oscillator. The modulation signal generating section comprises a triangular wave oscillator producing a linear modulation component of a triangular waveform which varies the modulation frequency linearly, a sine wave oscillator producing a cyclic modulation component of a sine waveform which varies the modulation frequency cyclically, and a signal adder producing the modulation signal by adding the linear modulation component and the cyclic modulation component. A transmitting signal frequency modulated by the modulation signal is mixed with a received signal and produces a beat signal comprising a fundamental wave component of a beat frequency and harmonic components.

Radar system installable in an automotive vehicle for detecting a target

A planar array antenna comprises a plurality of antenna elements disposed in a predetermined matrix pattern. Feeders extend from a feed to the antenna elements. High-frequency switches cooperatively open or close the feeders connected to antenna elements of at least one row of the matrix pattern located at both a right-end and a left-end regions of an antenna surface. Switching signals are supplied to the high-frequency switches from switching terminals for alternately activating the associated antenna elements, thereby providing two time-divisional array antennas offset in position by a distance corresponding to the width of at least one row of the antenna elements controlled.
