Provided is a negative electrode active material that is applied in an aqueous secondary battery in which is used an aqueous electrolyte containing water and a lithium salt. The negative electrode active material contains hardly-graphitizable carbon, and the hardly-graphitizable carbon has a C—F bond group on the surface thereof. In an XPS spectrum obtained through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, when the peak intensity near 688 eV originating from C—F bonds of the hardly-graphitizable carbon is denoted by I688eV, the peak intensity near 284 eV originating from C—C bonds is denoted by I284eV, a ratio of the peak intensity I688eV to the peak intensity I284eV (value of I688eV/I284eV) is denoted by X, and the BET specific surface area (m2/g) is denoted by Y, the X and Y satisfy Y<(−0.3X+3.75), 0.1≤X≤5, and Y≥2.

Negative electrode active material for aqueous secondary battery, negative electrode for aqueous secondary battery, and aqueous secondary battery

A secondary battery according to the present invention is provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode and an electrolyte solution; the electrolyte solution contains water and a lithium salt; the negative electrode contains a negative electrode active material; a silane coupling agent, which is reductively decomposed at a potential that is higher than the reductive decomposition potential of water, is adhered to the surface of the negative electrode active material; and the silane coupling agent contains fluorine as a constituent element.

This non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that is an example of an embodiment comprises a winding type electrode body for which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are wound with a separator interposed. The electrode body has a positive electrode lead. A battery comprises a first polarity terminal that is attached via a first insulating member to an opening of an outer case. A first polarity plate includes: a first core formed of a conductive material; and a first active material layer. A first drawn-out portion is formed from a side of the first core on the first polarity terminal side thereof being drawn further out than a side of the first active material layer on the first polarity terminal side thereof. An object of the invention is to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having good cycle characteristics. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode containing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material, a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The positive electrode active material is a layered lithium transition metal oxide, and the positive electrode active material has a crystallite size of 140 nm or less. The negative electrode active material contains at least carbon, and the nonaqueous electrolyte contains 2 to 30% by volume of fluoroethylene carbonate.

A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising a negative electrode plate including a negative electrode collector and a negative electrode mix layer which is placed on the negative electrode collector and which contains a negative electrode active material, a binder A containing a rubber polymer compound as a binder, and a binder B containing a water-soluble polymer compound. The negative electrode mix layer has a cross section in a thickness direction thereof, the cross section being halved into a collector-side region and a surface-side region. The sum of the perimeters of the negative electrode active material per unit area in the cross section is more distributed in the collector-side region than in the surface-side region. The binder A is more distributed in the collector-side region than in the surface-side region.

An object is to provide a positive electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that allow a high output characteristic. Included are a positive electrode collector and a positive electrode mixture layer formed on at least one surface of the positive electrode collector. Provided is a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery with improved high-rate discharge characteristics. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a positive electrode including a metal foil and a positive electrode active material layer formed thereon; a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material; and a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a nonaqueous solvent and a solute dissolved therein. The metal foil of the positive electrode is an aluminum foil having an at least partially roughened surface adjacent to the positive electrode active material layer. The positive electrode includes a conductive layer containing a conductor and a binder in recesses in the at least partially roughened surface of the aluminum foil. The positive electrode active material layer is disposed on the conductive layer and contains a positive electrode active material, the conductor, and the binder.
