An intraocular lens insertion device and a cartridge which enable the intraocular lens to be inserted into an eye more stably and easily than ever before. A supporting portionof an intraocular lensarranged on a lens-advancing side in a lens-advancing direction x is pressed against a protrusionso as to be bent backward. Thus, releasing the intraocular lensfrom a nozzle portionis allowed to begin with the releasing of a curved portion of the supporting portionthat has become U-shaped and hard to move freely. As a result, there can be provided an intraocular lens insertion device and a cartridge which enable the intraocular lensto be inserted into an eye more steadily and easily than ever before.

Intraocular lens insertion device and cartridge

Provided is an intraocular lens insertion device capable of omitting a repeated operation after the intraocular lens is inserted into the eye. The intraocular lens insertion device () comprises a lens setting part () for mounting an intraocular lens () having an optic () and one or two or more supporting portions (and) disposed at the outer edge of the optic (), a plunger () for pushing out the intraocular lens () mounted in the lens setting part (), and a nozzle () for releasing the intraocular lens () pushed out by the plunger (). This plunger () includes a lens contact portion () for abutting against the outer edge of the optic (), and a pushing portion () for pushing out the supporting portion () arranged in the backward direction of a lens advancing axis (A).

Intraocular lens insertion device and method for controlling movement of the intraocular lens

Therapeutic instrument and attachment thereof

An intraocular lens of the present invention has a substantially circular or elliptical optical lens portion made of a soft material, and an arm-shaped support arm portion attached to outer peripheral edges of this optical lens portion, and out of the peripheral edges of the optical lens portion that are contiguous to both sides in a width direction of a root of the support arm portion, at least one outer peripheral edge has a portion recessed inward from the convex curve. Thus, there is provided a soft intraocular lens that can be inserted into an eye from a further smaller incision, without damaging an optical function as much as possible.

There is provided an intraocular lens insertion device capable of easily positioning a circumference of an optical portion of an intraocular lens with respect to a distal end of a plunger. A slitis formed on the lens placement section, and the deforming meansdeforms the lens placement sectionin a diameter-decreasing direction thereof when attaching the cartridgeto the insertion device main body. In this way, the intraocular lensis settled at a predetermined position in the lens placement section, thus making it possible to position a circumference of an optical portionof the intraocular lenswith respect to a distal end portion of the plunger

Intraocular lens insertion devices and methods

An intraocular lens insertion device () includes a main body (), an operational portion () provided on an end () of the main body (), a knock mechanism () for moving the operational portion () forward and backward with respect to the main body (), and a cartridge () attached to the other end () of the main body () and serving as an insertion tube. The device is constructed, as a whole, such that the knock mechanism () moves the operational portion () repeatedly forward and backward so that an intraocular lens () placed in the cartridge () can be pushed out stepwise. The knock mechanism () is structured so as to move the operational portion () pushed forward toward a backward direction and automatically return it to an original position prior to the same being pushed forward.

A soft intraocular lens is provided, with IRHD hardness thereof being 40 to 60, wherein distance L is in a range of 3.75 mm-4.50 mm, which is a distance from an optical central axis of the optical part to a reference point of a supporting part side edge of the transition part, and an angle &#x3b8; is in a range of 35&#xb0;-50&#xb0;, which is formed by a surface including the optical central axis and a reference point of the supporting part side edge of the transition part, and a surface including the optical central axis and in contact with a tip of the supporting part, with a width of the transition part being larger than a width of the supporting part, and a width Wm of the transition part in a middle of the optical part side edge and the supporting part side edge of the transition part being 1.5 times to 3 times of a width Ws of the supporting part.

There is provided an intraocular lens insertion device capable of more easily inserting an intraocular lens into an eye. An intraocular lens insertion devicecomprises a main body, an operation portionand a cartridgeattached to the main body. The operation portionhas a plungerintegrally provided thereon and serving as a transmitting member, and a rodprovided on a distal end of the plungerand serving to push out the intraocular lens. The intraocular lens insertion devicefurther comprises a restraint portionand thus allows the rodto first push an intraocular lensby a predetermined distance and then be temporarily stopped before the intraocular lensis released from the cartridgetoward the outside.
