Side holders are provided at either side in the width direction interior relative to stationary holder(s). Parallel link mechanism(s) is or are provided for causing side holders to move in the cartridge width direction. When a cartridge which is one of a plurality of types of cartridge other than a cartridge or cartridges of the type or types that is or are smallest in width is inserted therein, pressure from that inserted cartridge causes actuation of parallel link mechanism(s), and respective side holders move outward in coupled fashion to form insertion space in agreement with width direction dimension(s) of cartridge

Disk device with width-varying mechanism

A cassette loading device including the following configuration: one cassette holder is fitted into the other cassette holder so as to slide in the cassette's direction of movement relative to the other. The other cassette holder is moved in linkage with the cassette pushing operation for magnetic tape cassette inserted into the one cassette holder, with a different amount of stroke from the pushed amount of stroke for the magnetic tape cassette inserted in the one cassette holder. Also, a timing change lever which is rotationally supported at a central portion across the length, is adapted to selectively become engaged at its distal end with the magnetic tape cassette held in the cassette holder. In the terminal end of the movement of the cassette, the opening which is provided at the other end of the timing change lever is detected so that the cassette in-pulling operation starts at the timing of the detection.

Cassette loading device

A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus utilizing a magnetic tape in a cassette, the tape being driven by reels and information data being recorded or reproduced on or from the magnetic tape. The apparatus includes a mechanism for pulling or storing the magnetic tape out of or in the cassette which mechanism includes a pair of guide rollers for restricting the running path of the magnetic tape, the guide rollers being movable between an unloading position and a loading position. A magnetic head, which can be a multi-track magnetic head having a plurality of magnetic heads, the number of which is defined to be smaller than the number of tracks standardized as a track format on the magnetic tape, records or reproduces information-data when the guide rollers are in their loading position and the head is allowed to vertically move each time the running direction of the magnetic tape is changed.
