A seat cushion pad composed of polyurethane foam having a skin layer and a core layer, the polyurethane foam is molded by pouring a polyurethane foam raw material composition into a mould, the seating portion of the seat cushion pad has a one layer structure, wherein the air permeability is 0.05-1.5 cfm (cubic feet/min, i.e., ft3/min) &lsqb;1.41 to 42.2 L/min&rsqb;, and the hysteresis loss of the core layer is 17% or below.

A seat includes a seat frame having a steel spring, and a cushion pad of soft polyurethane molded foam placed on the steel spring. A stretchable nonwoven fabric, having an elongation after fracture of at least 180%, is integrally formed in a laminated manner at a portion of the cushion pad in contact with the steel spring thereby providing enhanced comfort while inhibiting wear or breakage of the cushion pad due to the steel spring acting thereupon.

The foam is selected such that a load ratio (3%ISR) between a load at which the thickness is 25% compressed when pressed with a pressure plate having a diameter of 60 mm (25%-strain load) and a load at which the thickness is 3% compressed when pressed with the same pressure plate (3%-strain load) is at least about 6. Alternatively, another ratio (5%ISR) between the load at which the thickness is 25% compressed when pressed with the above dimensioned pressure plate (25%-strain load) and a load at which the thickness is 5% compressed when pressed with the pressure plate (5%-strain load) is selected to be at least about 4. Such design provides comfortable seating and resistance against fatigue even during periods of extended driving, and can be prepared at a low cost with a large degree of design freedom.
