A development roll for electrophotographic equipment includes a shaft body, a rubber elastic layer formed by molding on an outer circumference of the shaft body and having many convex portions formed by transfer molding on the outer circumferential surface thereof, and a coating layer disposed on an outer circumference of the rubber elastic layer. The coating layer is composed of a cured body of a coating material containing (A) a thermoplastic urethane having a number-average molecular weight in the range of 50,000 to 200,000, (B) a polyol having a number-average molecular weight in the range of 500 to 4,000, and (C) a curing agent. The mass percentages a, b, and c of the components (A), (B), and (C) satisfy the following expressions: a+b+c=100, 40&#x2266;a&#x2266;75, 5&#x2266;b&#x2266;20, and 20&#x2266;c.

Development roll for electrophotographic equipment

An electrically conductive roll includes a shaft body and at least a conductive elastic layer formed by extrusion on an outer circumferential surface of the shaft body. The conductive elastic layer is formed from at least one conductive rubber composition which includes a rubber material, a thermoplastic resin having crosslinkable double bonds and a melting point in a range from 40&#xb0; C. to 100&#xb0; C., and at least one conductive agent. The thermoplastic resin is included in an amount of 5 to 50 wt. % of a total amount of the rubber material and the thermoplastic resin.

Conductive roll

A water absorptive composition comprising a thermoplastic elastomer as a first component, a water-absorptive resin as a second component, and a third component selected from the group which consists of: a water-soluble resin; a hydrophilic compound selected from the group consisting of metal salt of carboxylic acid, polyhydric alcohol, amino alcohol, linear polyether, saccharide, and sugar alcohol; and a surface treating agent selected from the group consisting of sorbitan fatty acid ester, glycidyl ether of polyhydric alcohol, and silane coupling agent. The composition is suitably used for producing a water absorptive member for protecting optical fiber elements of an optical fiber cable.

Water absorptive composition

A process of producing a water absorptive resin, wherein a water absorptive polymer which comprises cross-linked poly(metal salt of acrylic acid) as a major component is impregnated with water, and the water-impregnated water absorptive polymer is exposed to one of a high-temperature highly-humid atmosphere or a ultraviolet radiation, to thereby partially release the cross-linkage of the cross-linked poly(metal salt of acrylic acid).

Irradiation or thermal treatment of water-impregnated cross-linked

A water absorptive fabric including a layer of a water absorptive polymer whose major components consist of a cross-linked poly(metal salt of acrylic acid) and a water-soluble resin. The fabric may be produced by first impregnating a fabric substrate with a solution which contains a metal salt of acrylic acid in the form of a monomer, a cross-linking agent and a water-soluble resin, and then heating the impregnated fabric substrate to thereby copolymerize the monomer and the cross-linking agent, in the presence of the water-soluble resin.
