An information processing apparatus, method and storage medium having a feature for establishing exceptions applied to print settings when specified conditions are met. A user is permitted to enter exceptions to the general print settings for a document. The exceptions apply only to specified objects in the document and only under certain conditions specified by the user. The exceptions and the general print settings are saved into a template.

A printer driver for generating print job data to be transferred to a printer in response to a drawing instruction determines, based on combining condition, whether the received drawing instruction can be combined with another drawing instruction. If the printer driver determines that the received drawing instruction can be combined, the printer driver stores the received drawing instruction as intermediate data. If the printer driver determines that the received drawing instruction cannot be combined, the printer driver combines intermediate data of already stored drawing instructions into a single item of print job data and outputs the print job data to the printer. The combining condition is that the received drawing instruction meets all of three conditions.

Disclosed is a printing control apparatus in which a printing instruction is once converted into an intermediate code format and then converted into a printer control command, and which can correctly print an embedded font. In this invention, a spooler for converting a printing instruction into an intermediate code format and storing this intermediate code format detects the presence/absence of an embedded font on the basis of font attributes contained in the printing instruction. If an embedded font is detected, the spooler acquires the embedded font (S) and spools the font by the intermediate code format (S). The despooler registers the spooled embedded font in a graphic engine (D), and a printer driver generates a control command by using the registered embedded font (Drv).

To provide a printing system and a printing apparatus which can ensure high-speed, normal printing with small memory requirements even when lots of print commands are sent to a printer. The printing apparatus includes a print mode determination unit which judges whether intermediate-language data can fit in a page memory when print command data is converted in normal print mode and selects the normal print mode if the data can fit in, but selects compressed print mode if the data cannot fit in. The present invention is directed to providing, in an apparatus and method for generating print commands suited to a particular printing apparatus, both high-speed printing of simple pages that are relatively easily processed as well as improved continuous throughput of complex pages that are relatively difficult to process. The apparatus obtains and integrates data size and command numbers from the generated print commands and switches the print command generation from page units to band units when it appears likely that the page memory will be exceeded, thus mixing page unit print commands and band unit print commands in the same page to achieve improved throughput.

In case of temporarily spooling an intermediate language by a printer driver, a high speed print can be performed by suppressing a size and the number of holding data. The printer driver adds a tag of each draw object type to information of a draw command received through a DDI function and holds the resultant information into a primary buffer together with attributes such as draw position information, color information, pattern information, and draw logic information. When the information is held into the primary buffer, if there is a draw object which has already been held, if the types and the draw attributes of the draw objects are identical, the draw object is additionally registered into the primary buffer. If one of 'type is different', 'data cannot be fully stored into the primary buffer', &#x201c;draw attribute changes&#x201d;, and &#x201c;page process is completed&#x201d; is satisfied, a PDF (Page Data File) is generated from the draw object which has already been held in the primary buffer and spooled.

Source data colors (red, green, blue) are converted by a printer driver to gray values using equation (1).
