A hinge mechanism for a vehicle door comprising a first arm and a second arm extending between the door section and the vehicle body for supporting the door section during opening and closing thereof. The first arm includes a first shaft for pivotally mounting the door section to the vehicle body and a second shaft for pivotally mounting the door section on the end of the first arm opposite the first shaft. The first shaft is mounted along the vehicle body and is positioned beneath a rearward section of a fixed fender portion. An attaching element rotatably mounts a movable fender portion on the first shaft for rotation with the first arm. The movable fender is adjacent to and substantially beneath the fixed fender portion when the door section is closed. The movable fender also includes an extension projecting forward of the first shaft, the extension defining a path of movement about the first shaft during opening and closing of the door section.

Side door hinge mechanism in motor vehicle

A window assembly for a motor vehicle door wherein the outer surface of the window and the outer surface of the door frame are substantially flush with each other. The assembly includes a window pane with at least one bracket secured to the outer surface of an end of the pane and projecting outwardly from that end in a direction substantially parallel to the surface of the glass. The assembly also includes a door frame having a vertically positioned guide portion with a guide groove open in the direction of the window pane. A slide piece is secured to the end of the bracket opposite the end secured to the pane and is slidably engaged within the guide groove so that the outer surface of the guide portion is substantially flush with the window pane and the window pane is guided in the vertical direction. Finally, there is a weather strip between the window pane and the door frame which is positioned at the vehicle compartment side of the guide portion.

Construction of door in motor vehicle

An occupant restraining webbing is engaged with a sliding anchor, which is movable along a guide rail solidly secured to a vehicle body. Lock bars provided on the sliding anchor are received in engaging holes formed in the guide rail therealong, whereby the sliding anchor is positively supported on a side wall of the vehicle body to secure an occupant in a restrained state in an emergency situation of a vehicle. While, the occupant can withdraw the lock bars from the engaging holes and move the sliding anchor, so that an anchor point can be adjusted.

Shoulderbelt anchor device

An automatic seat belt device has a seat belt guide ring pivotally secured to the bent of a stationary guide having an L-shaped section bent parallel to the lateral direction of the vehicle, the guide being mounted to the lateral side of a seat cushion. The seat belt guide ring is formed substantially in triangular shape and formed with a long guiding hole for inner seat belt along one side thereof. The guide ring is pivotal in the lateral direction. Twisting of the seat belt at the guide ring thereby can be prevented, and slack in the guide ring can be removed in case of upward or downward longitudinal slack of the belt by the clockwise or counterclockwise rotation of the guide ring.

Automatic seat belt device

A guiding device for a front seat belt for a vehicle having a cross member formed at a rear seat side on an automotive floor and a floor tunnel, which has a retractor for the front seat belt, fixedly secured into an opening formed at the cross member, a boot fixedly secured to the side of the floor tunnel between the front side of the rear seat and the rear side of the front seat for guiding the floor seat belt drawn from the retractor, and a floor carpet arranged to cover the boot and formed with a belt passage hole, from which the seat belt is drawn to the front seat side through a belt outlet formed at the boot. Thus, the front seat belt is not exposed in an occupant's leg preserving portion of a rear seat to prevent the front seat belt from disturbing the occupant's legs at the rear seat and to simultaneously prevent the front seat belt from being contaminated with preferable external appearance and smooth extension and retraction of the front seat belt.

Guiding device for front seat belts

A passive seatbelt system of the type including a guide rail, a truck guided on the guide rail, a seatbelt coupled to the truck and a driving means for causing the truck to move. In the seatbelt system, the guide rail is provided on a vehicle-interior side of a roof side member of a vehicle body in between the roof side member and a headliner of the vehicle such that a slit exists between the roof side member and the headliner through which a portion of the truck projects.

Passive seatbelt system

A raised arm structure protruding inwardly on a vehicle door has a longitudinally extending slit through the undersurface thereof, and through the slit, a movable belt guide within the arm structure slidably holds an intermediate portion of an occupant restraining webbing from within the arm structure, whereby a part of the webbing held by the movable belt guide is out of sight from above and under the arm structure.

Seatbelt system

An automatic seatbelt system for automatically fastening an outer webbing and an inner webbing to an occupant upon being seated, wherein opposite ends of the outer webbing are engaged with the upper and lower portions of a vehicle door, respectively, the base portion of the inner webbing is wound into a retractor provided at substantially the central portion of the vehicle, and, in an emergency of a vehicle, the intermediate portion of the inner webbing is directly locked, so that the inner webbing can be prevented from being wound out of the retractor. Further, the forward end of the inner webbing is adapted to guide the intermediate portion of the inner webbing through a through-ring, prevent the outer webbing from moving in the longitudinal direction thereof to improve the occupant restraining characteristics in an emergency of a vehicle, and the intermediate portion of the inner webbing is moved forward in the vehicle when the occupant enters or leaves the vehicle to facilitate actions of the occupant in entering or leaving the vehicle.

Automatic seatbelt system

A passive seatbelt driving system for a vehicle including a stroke amplifying means having variable amplification coupled to a door of the vehicle for amplifying the opening and closing strokes of the door, a take-up pulley driven by the amplified strokes from the stroke-amplifying means and a wire wound on the take-up pulley and coupled to a seatbelt such that when the door is opened the take-up pulley is driven by the amplified strokes from the stroke-amplifying means to pull the seatbelt away from the seat in the vehicle to provide sufficient space to enter or leave the vehicle regardless of the amount by which the door is opened.

Passive seatbelt system for motor vehicles

The webbing slider lock mechanism according to the present invention comprises: a slider movably received in a sliding groove of a guide rail laid in a vehicle and connected to an end of an occupant restraining webbing; a driving member movably received in a driving groove of the guide rail and connected to the slider in a manner to be movable by a given length relative to the slider in a direction of travel of the slider; a release arm disposed in a manner to be projectable into the driving groove at the side of a retracting end portion of the guide rail in a biased condition and adapted to abut against the side portion of the driving member to be pushed out of the driving groove; and a locking lever disposed below the position of the release arm at the side of retracting end portion of the guide rail in a manner to be projectable to lock the slider and connected to the release arm in a manner to be retractable from the sliding groove.

Webbing slider lock mechanism

According to the present invention, in a seatbelt system, in which an end of an occupant restraining webbing is connected to a slider and this slider travels along a guide rail laid on a vehicle body so as to cause the webbing to approach or recede from the body of an occupant, the slider includes: a head; a body suspended from a central portion in cross-section of the head and inserted through a driving tape; and a leg extended from the lower end of the body and secured with an anchor plate, to which the webbing is connected, and the guide rail includes: a substantially letter `T` shaped sliding groove consisting of a head groove portion for slidably guiding the head of slider and a body groove portion for slidably guiding the body of slider; and a tape groove perpendicularly intersecting the body groove portion of the sliding groove for receiving and guiding the driving tape.

A movable shaft through which a door opening or closing force is transmitted can move in a first and second grooves of a guide plate, and said movable shaft, when in the first groove, is engaged with an engageable groove of a groove plate to transmit the door opening or closing force to a webbing driving portion for attaching webbings to or separating same from an occupant, and, when in the second groove, slides in a sliding groove of the groove plate so that the webbings can be automatically fastened to or unfastened from the occupant in such a manner that the groove plate is scarcely moved and the door is opened or closed to some extent.

Passive seatbelt driving mechanism

One end of an occupant restraining webbing is secured to a slider, and driving means moves said slider in a guide groove formed in a guide rail, so that an occupant can be automatically brought into a webbing fastened state. The slider, being provided at the head thereof with a shoe, moves smoothly. Said shoe is adapted to be damaged under a predetermined value of load in an emergency of the vehicle, so that the head of slider can be pressed against said guide groove to prevent the slider from moving, thereby securing the occupant in the restrained state.

Emergency locking device

A locking device for seatbelt systems including a rotatable locking base with a wavy surface, a locking member provided adjacent the rotatable locking base and which is movable such that it engages with the locking base, a seatbelt portion which extends between the rotatable locking base and the locking member having an arm member with a wavy surface which senses the tension on such seatbelt portion and which engages with the locking member such that the locking member is caused to move when the arm member senses a tension on said seatbelt portion which is greater than a predetermined tension and such that the locking member presses the seatbelt portion against the rotatable base across its entire width when the locking member is caused to move by the arm member.

Locking device for seatbelt systems

A passive seatbelt system wherein a webbing is connected to a webbing guide movably received in a guide rail laid in or on a vehicle and the webbing guide is moved by a thick wall tape to cause the webbing to approach or recede from the body of an occupant of the vehicle. A tape casing for receiving the tail end portion of the thick wall tape is provided at a position adjacent to driving means for driving the thick wall tape in a panel of the vehicle.
