A disposable absorbent undergarment such as a diaper includes short pants and a liquid-absorbent pad attached to an inner surface of the short pants. The short pants has a front waist section, a rear waist section, a crotch section interposed therebetween, a waist-opening and a pair of leg-openings. The crotch section, the waist-opening and the leg-openings are elastically stretchable. A circumferential region defined by portions of the front and rear waist sections between the waist opening and upper ends of the leg-openings is also elastically stretchable.

A disposable diaper having a pair of cuffs longitudinally extending on the inner surface of the diaper along transversely opposite sides thereof across front and rear sections as well as a crotch section longitudinally interdisposed between these two sections, wherein each cuff has a substantially crescent-shaped elastic sheet bonded in its longitudinally stretched state to the inner surface along its longitudinally opposite ends and an outer arc defined between these ends.

An absorbent pants type article has a front waist-opening marginal stretchable region and a front waist stretchable region having upper, intermediate and lower stretchable subregions. The elongation stress of the front waist-opening marginal stretchable region is greater than the corresponding stress in the lower stretchable subregion. The stress in the lower stretchable region is greater than the stress in the upper stretchable subregion which is in turn greater than the stress in the intermediate stretchable subregion.

The absorbent core includes a structure which encourages the formation of corrugations therein when the basic sheet is released. The corrugations enable the flow of material in the troughs of the corrugations, and thereby reduce soilage of the upper surface of the absorbent core by fetal matter. The liquid absorbent pad is suitable for undergarment use in which the basic sheet includes a waist opening and a pair of leg openings. In one embodiment, the structure which encourages the formation of corrugations includes gaps between adjacent strips of absorbent material. In another embodiment, the structure is periodic regions of reduced density or rigidity. In a further embodiment, the structure includes periodic longitudinal indentations alternating on opposite sides of the absorbent pad.

Method for making a liquid absorbent pad

The present invention provides a sanitary napkin which includes a side barrier incorporating an elastic member disposed on each side of the sanitary napkin, and a separate wing portion disposed outwardly of each side barrier, so that the wing portions can be folded onto the outer side of the crotch portion of an undergarment.

A disposable absorbent pad comprising a pad member adapted to present a boat-shape under the contractile force of elastic members contained in side flaps, and an elastic support member; longitudinally opposite of the pad member are connected to front and rear sides of the support member by end flaps each comprising top-and backsheets of the pad member and divided in a pair of end flap halves by a slit so as to function as a suspending strap; and the end flap halves are set apart in a V-shape with the slit therebetween as the support member is stretched and contribute to suspend the pad member with high stability.

The present invention discloses an absorbent composite panel to be laid on a urination tray for pet animals such as cats and dogs, the composite panel comprising a liquid-permeable topsheet, a liquid-impermeable backsheet and a liquid-absorbent core disposed between these two sheets, the absorbent core comprising a plurality of core elements intermittently arranged independently of one another and the top- and backsheets being bonded together over zones defined between each pair of adjacent core elements so that a selected portion of the composite panel may be cut off from the remainder.

An improved sanitary napkin comprising liquid barriers extending along laterally opposite sides of a napkin and provided with elastic members and wings extending outwardly from the liquid barriers, wherein the liquid barriers and the wings are branched from each other so that the liquid barriers are not pulled outward even when the wings are folded back onto the outer surface of a crotch zone of the user's underwear in order to fix the napkin thereto.
