Impact absorption structure is provided in side frame element of seat cushion frame, wherein the side frame element is basically of a closed cross-section portion therein, including forward and backward support points therein. In the structure, an opened cross-section area is defined in the closed cross-section by forming a cut-away portion in a lower part of a forward local region of such closed cross-section portion between the forward and backward support points, so that the opened cross-section area is deformable at said cut-away portion by a great load transmitted from a seat back frame thereto, thereby absorbing a corresponding impact.

A structure of seat with seat lifter having two lifter links pivotally connected between a seat cushion and an upwardly extending support element fixed on vehicle floor, which includes a horizontal bar element extended between the two lifter links to prevent forward slippage of a passenger on the seat cushion. A reinforcing element is provided between the two lifter links and an upwardly extending support element so as to reinforce the two links, while allowing for movement of the two lifter links with respect to the upwardly extending support element, via a connecting element. The reinforcing element may comprise two reinforcing brackets connected with the respective two lifter links and the upwardly extending support element via the connecting element, or may comprise a lower extension area formed in each of the lifter links, which is movably connected with the upwardly extending support element via the connecting element.

The first and second elements are each of double wall structure having two spaced-apart walls. A vehicle seat structure wherein a forward buttocks preventive element is movably provided against an emergency case. A rotatable arm, to which the forward buttocks preventive element is fixed, has a connecting pin slidably engaged in a guide hole formed in an actuator plate which is rotatably provided in the seat cushion. The actuator plate may be biasingly toggled between operative and inoperative positions under a biasing force of biasing element relative to a dead point. A seat belt control mechanism is operatively connected with that actuator plate. A great load applied in emergency case to the seat belt control mechanism causes both actuator plate and arm to rotate toward the operative position, thereby displacing the forward buttocks preventive element from a home position to a point for receiving a passenger's buttocks portion. The vehicle seat structure allows the forward buttocks preventive element to be returned to the home position.

A structure of seat cushion frame including a pair of side frame members and a square backward frame member connected between the two side frame members. In this structure, a reclining device is securely attached to predetermined securing points in each of the two side frame members, wherein such predetermined securing points are defined on the opposite sides of a central axis of the square backward frame member and also disposed on the same level with or adjacent to that central axis. Hence, a great load imparted from the reclining device is not directly exerted on the side frame members, but smoothly escaped to the square backward frame, thereby protecting the side frame members against deformation.

A reclining device for seat which has circular inwardly and outwardly toothed portions as a full meshing lock element, which permits for reducing pitches in the teeth of them for fine adjustment of reclining angle. A male lock member having the circular outwardly toothed portion and a female lock plate having the circular inwardly toothed portion are provided coaxially on a shaft. The male lock member is so accommodated in a base housing as to be movable along the longitudinal axis of the shaft in an irrotational way via a guide element. A rotary cam member and an array of cam follower regions are provided as an actuation element, which works with the guide element to insure stable positioning and displacement of the male lock member relative to the female lock plate. Hence, the arcuate outwardly toothed protion may be positively brought to and out of meshed engagement with the arcuate inwardly toothed portion, without any incomplete unlocking problem.

A back board structure for a vehicle seat of the type having a slit through which a lower arm of the reclining device passes, where there is a bracket together with an elastic cover member around the slit of the back board, to reinforce the slit area and close the slit against coming into view from the outside.
