The present invention seeks to enable a band-shaped metal wire member to be stably accommodated within a die. A die is prepared that includes a bottom die provided with a depression and a top die provided with a projection that can be arranged within the depression so as to close off a space above the depression. An inner surface of the depression includes a central die surface formed at a width-direction center of a base of the depression and a pair of curved guide die surfaces provided continuous with two sides of the central die surface and curved so as to project outward. The central die surface is formed as a flat surface or as a surface that curves more gently than the pair of curved guide die surfaces. A bonding process portion of a band-shaped metal wire member is folded in two and arranged within the depression.

A method of manufacturing a conductive member includes (a) a step of preparing a long conductive member provided with a cutting target in an extension direction portion, and (b) a step of firing a high energy-density beam at the cutting target while moving the high energy-density beam in a direction that intersects with the extension direction of the long conductive member, and also cutting the cutting target at, at least, a portion where the high energy-density beam moves, such that a dimension of the cutting target in a firing direction of the high energy-density beam gradually increases.

The present invention enables a core wire that contains a plurality of strands and a bonding object to be bonded more reliably using an ultrasonic bonding device that cantilever supports a pressing portion that performs ultrasonic bonding. A bonding object (for example, a terminal) is supported as on a stage, a core wire is overlaid on the bonding object, and the core wire and the bonding object are ultrasonically bonded in a state where the core wire is pressed toward the bonding object, using a pressing portion that is supported in cantilever fashion. During ultrasonic bonding, a pressing surface of the pressing portion is inclined in a pressing direction progressively toward a side where the pressing portion is cantilever supported, and also a bonding surface of the bonding object is inclined in the pressing direction progressively toward the side where the pressing portion is cantilever supported.

Sufficient welding of multiple metal wires in at least a portion of a conductive member that is constituted by multiple metal wires is enabled. The conductive member includes multiple metal wires each including a metal strand and a metal covering layer formed around the metal strand, and a joined portion in which the metal wires are joined by melting of alloy portions of the metal covering layers, the alloy portions including the metal that forms the metal strands. The joined portion can be formed by joining the metal wires to each other by performing heating at a temperature higher than the melting point of the alloy portions of the metal covering layers, the alloy portions including the metal that forms the metal strands.

A conductive member production method is performed with use of a die that includes a first die and a second die. The first die includes a protruding portion having a recession-shaped depression formed in a leading end surface, the depression including a molding surface that is inclined so as to gradually extend toward the leading end surface side while extending laterally from the depression. The second die includes a recessed portion into which the protruding portion can be inserted. The method includes a heating step of heating a weld portion formation region that is a portion, with respect to an extending direction, of a conductive member constituted by multiple metal strands, and a pressing step in which the heated weld portion formation region is sandwiched between and pressed by the protruding portion of the first die and the recessed portion of the second die.

A terminal is crimped to a portion where a plurality of metal strands are welded. A conductive member is configured by a plurality of coated metal wires provided with a plurality of metal strands and with an electrically conductive sheath covering a circumference of each of the plurality of metal strands. The conductive member includes a welded portion, in which at least a portion in an extension direction of the plurality of coated metal wires is welded, and the welded portion includes an outer layer that is formed on an outer circumference side by welding the plurality of coated metal wires together, and at least a portion of the plurality of coated metal wires on an inner side of the outer layer is capable of untwining due to crimping a terminal.

Conductive member, terminal-equipped conductive member, and method of manufacturing conductive member

A fitting-equipped electrically conductive sheet and a connection fitting configured to electrically connect to another member, in which both a low connection resistance and a high fixing strength are easily achieved. The connection fitting has a crimp section that is crimped to an edge section of the electrically conductive sheet material. The crimp section includes a pair of plate-shaped holding sections between which the edge section of the sheet material is sandwiched, and a folded-back section that connects them. One of the pair of plate-shaped holding sections has a band-shaped recess on an outer surface of an intermediate region between the folded-back section and the opposite edge section, the band-shaped recess being band-shaped by being more strongly crimped to the sheet material than other parts.

Fitting equipped electrically conductive sheet

A wire harness has an exterior component () that covers a certain part of at least one wires (). The exterior component () has parts having different hardness, including a relatively hard first part (), a relatively soft second part (), and a third part () having an intermediate hardness between that of the first parts (). The first part is formed on a surface of the exterior component and functions as a shape keeping member and a protector. The second and third parts () surround the certain part of the at least one wireand each functions as a cushioning material and a muffler/soundproofing material. The first part (), the second part (), and the third part () are formed integrally from a non-woven fabric () with thermo plasticity.

Wire harness

First and second sliding parts of a sliding mechanism slide relative to each other. The first sliding part is held in a recess of a metal holding member, which is bounded by an inner wall that meets an open end of the recess along an edge. The first sliding part has a first side surface portion that contacts the inner wall in the recess away from the edge, and a second side surface portion displaced inwardly away from the inner wall so as not to contact the holding member at the edge. By this structure, generation of stress concentration on the sliding part can be avoided.

A silicon nitride ceramic sliding member which includes Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 grains as a main component and is shaped or controlled in dimensions through hot plastic working wherein the Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 particles mainly includes .beta.-type columnar crystal grains. The ceramic sliding member is produced by the step (I) of preparing a preform made of silicon nitride ceramic sintered body including Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 grains as a main component wherein the average grain size (average grain size in minor axis in the case of .beta.-type columnar crystal grains) of the Si.sub.3 N.sub.4 grains is at most 0.5 .mu.m, and the hot plastic working step (II) of placing the preform in a mold and effecting hot plastic deformation of the preform for shaping or dimensional control thereof while simultaneously increasing the average aspect ratio of the .beta.-type columnar crystal grains. The resultant sliding member has excellent sliding properties, a high mechanical strength and a high reliability at a low cost without resort to grinding or the like for shaping thereof.
