A slide gate plate serving as a molten metal flow-rate control member for use in a molten metal discharging device, comprising an assembly of at least one stationary plate having a nozzle hole therein and a slide plate having a nozzle hole therein, the plates being designed so that one of the plates is thicker than the other plate by 1.5 mm or more. With this construction, the slide gate plate is reusable by polishing the sliding face off a worn plate for reuse.

A sliding nozzle device comprises a metallic case having an opening in the center thereof, a refractory plate secured to the metallic case and having a discharge hole formed in the center thereof for discharging molten metal, a metallic hoop located around the refractory plate, an immersion nozzle projected from the opening of the metallic case and attached to the refractory plate, projecting plates located around the refractory plate, and bolts and nuts used for securing the projecting plates to the metallic case.

Disclosed herein are a refractory repairing material for repairing a brick comprising a mixture of 70 to 80 wt % of alumina having not more than 1 mm of grain size, which comprises 25 to 30 wt % of the above amount with a grain size not passing through a 325 mesh and 45 to 50 wt % of the above amount with a grain size passing through a 325 mesh; 1 to 7 wt % of carbonaceous material having a grain size passing through a 60 mesh; 1 to 5 wt % of magnesia having a grain size passing through a 325 mesh; and 10 to 25 wt % of aluminum phosphate, and a method of repairing a plate-like brick.
