Composition for extrusion molding comprising a blend of 90 to 30 weight percent of thermoplastic resin and 10 to 70 weight percent of inorganic filler and a modifier selected from sorbitan fatty acid esters and polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid esters in an amount of 0.1 to 5 parts by weight based upon 100 parts by weight of the blend.

Thermoplastic resin composition suitable for extrusion molding

A molding material having superior buffering character, moldability and dimensional stability obtained by incorporating a copolymer composed predominantly of polyethylene or ethylene with an inorganic filler blend comprising sand with an average particle size of 100 to 500 microns and calcium sulfite, and foaming the resulting composition. A molded product having a lustrous and beautiful superficial coating can be obtained by pressing the aforementioned foamed body while it is still hot against a smooth cool solid surface and cooling the foamed body down to a temperature below its softening point. Further, the aforementioned molding material is useful for packings, mattresses and lightweight construction materials.

Molding material having superior buffering character

Pencils not requiring sharpening are produced by wrapping a thermoplastic resin sheet, which has been uniaxially stretched, around a core material so that a stretched direction of the sheet forms a spiral against the core material, whereby the sheet forms a holder for the pencil which may be stripped off to selectively expose the core material.

Plural recesses are formed on the surface of a sheet of a chemically crosslinked foam of a polyolefinic resin containing an inorganic calcium compound, the articles of food to be packaged are placed in the recesses and then the sheet is covered with a physically foamed sheet of a polyolefinic resin containing an inorganic calcium compound. Alternatively, the physically foamed sheet can be shaped to define a recessed support for the food articles and a sheet of foamed polyolefinic resin used as the covering. The polyolefinic resin has 30-60% by weight of an inorganic calcium compound incorporated therein.

Method of packaging perishable foods and product thereof

A polyethylene composition consisting of: (A) a high density polyethylene with a viscosity-average molecular weight of 10 .times. 10.sup.4 to 20 .times. 10.sup.4, a number average molecular weight of 1 .times. 10.sup.4 or greater and a ratio between weight average molecular weight and number average molecular weight of 20 or less; (B) at least one inorganic calcium compound selected from a group consisting of calcium sulfite, calcium sulfate and calcium carbonate; and (C) a solid lubricant, if desired, the composition produces a film or sheet whose internal tearing resistance is high and equal in both longitudinal and lateral directions and the processibility of the resin composition may be extremely improved by incorporating as a fourth component, within a range of 1:5 to 5:1 in weight ratio with respect to the aforementioned high density polyethylene, a different high density polyethylene with a melt index of 0.1 to 1.0.

Polyethylene composition

An oil adsorbent comprising a plastic material for eliminating oils present in or on the surface of water through adsorption. Said adsorbent is produced by foaming by a physical means polyethylene containing 30-80% by weight of at least one inorganic calcium compound selected from the group consisting of calcium sulfite and calcium carbonate, to prepare a foamy substance having a density of 0.06-0.10 g/cc and then shaping the substance to have a network structure.

Oil adsorbent

Foamed thermoplastic resin which contains glass beads of from 1 to 2 mm in diameter has an improved mechanical strength and enhanced light reflection ability.

Foamed plastics and process for preparing the same

Lightweight construction materials having a low heat shrinking percentage and a high moisture permeability obtained by forming complementary concavoconvex patterns by means of press molding on both surfaces of a sheet of a foamed polyethylene type resin containing a relatively large amount of inorganic calcic filler, cushion made of said construction materials and mattress manufactured by laminating sheets of soft polyurethane foam on the lightweight construction material as core and covering the whole with cloth.
