A radiation-proof sheath material includes a polymer material containing molecular chains of ethylene units as a main component in which side chain groups are randomly distributed and cross-linked, an antioxidant, a processing aid, and a flame retardant. The polymer material includes chlorinated polyethylene containing chloro groups in the side chain groups.

A radiation resistant composition includes 100 parts by weight of a polymer, 5 to 80 parts by weight of an aromatic series process oil that a polycyclic aromatic (PCA) extract by an IP 346 method (DMSO extraction) is not more than 3% and an aromatic compound content is not less than 20% by a Kurtz analysis, and a radiation resistance imparting agent. The polymer is cross-linked or vulcanized. A wire or a cable includes an insulation and/or a sheath material including the radiation resistant composition.

A radiation-proof resin composition includes a polymer containing chlorine, a radiation resistance providing agent for providing the polymer with a radiation resistance, an amorphous inorganic material for capturing an ionic component generated in the polymer by radiation application, and a reinforcing material for reinforcing a mechanical strength of the polymer. An amount of the reinforcing material is not more than that of the amorphous inorganic material.

A metallic conductor and an insulator provided at an outer periphery of the metallic conductor for coating the metallic conductor constitutes an insulated wire or cable. The insulator has a reactor blended type polyolefin-based thermoplastic resin containing 51-85 mol % per monomer unit of the crystalline polypropylene. In the insulator used in a non-halogen flame retardant wire or cable, 40 to 300 pbw of a metallic hydroxide is added to 100 pbw of a blended composition. In the blended composition, the reactor blended type polyolefin-based thermoplastic resin containing 51-85 mol % per monomer unit of the crystalline polypropylene is greater than 50 pbw and less than 100 pbw, and a polyolefin is greater than 0 pbw and not greater than 50 pbw.

An electric wire and cable according to the present invention comprises a sheath made of a radiation-resistant non-halogen flame-retardant resin composition in which the radiation-resistant non-halogen flame-retardant resin composition includes one to 30 parts by weight of aromatic amine antioxidant with a melting point of 40&#xb0; C. or higher and 50 to 300 parts by weight of metal hydroxide blended into 100 parts by weight of ethylene polymer.

Radiation-resistant non-halogen flame-retardant resin composition as well as electric wire and cable using same

A flame retardant electrical insulating composition having an antifungal action comprises 100 parts by weight of a polyolefin, 50-300 parts by weight of a metal hydroxide, and at least 0.2 parts by weight of an amine compound. Also, a flame retardant electrical insulating composition having an antifungal action comprises 100 parts by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with a vinyl acetate content of at least 20 wt % or an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer with an ethyl acrylate content of at least 20 wt %, 50-300 parts by weight of a metal hydroxide, at least 0.2 parts by weight of an amine compound, and at least 0.5 parts by weight of a hydroxyl group containing lubricant.
