The present invention is a flame retardant resin composition including: 100 parts by weight of a resin component (component A) containing at least 50 wt % of a polycarbonate (component A-1) having a unit represented by the formula (A-1), and 1 to 100 parts by weight of an organic phosphorus compound (component B) represented by the formula (1): and a molded article thereof.

Flame retardant resin composition and molded article thereof

There is provided a resin composition that comprises a polycarbonate resin derived from an ether diol such as isosorbide and that is excellent in flame retardancy, heat resistance, thermal stability, rigidity, transparency and moldability. The resin composition is a flame-retardant resin composition comprising 1 to 60 parts by weight of phosphorus compound (component B) having a thermal decomposition temperature of not higher than 340&#xb0; C. based on 100 parts by weight of polycarbonate resin (component A) that mainly comprises a recurring unit represented by the following formula (1)

The object of this invention is to provide a copolycarbonate that is excellent in heat resistance, thermal stability and moldability and that uses a renewable resource as a raw material. This invention is a copolycarbonate including 50 to 99 mol % of a carbonate constituent unit (1) of the following formula and 50 to 1 mol% of a carbonate constituent unit (2) derived from an aliphatic diol having a boiling point of 180&#xb0; C. or higher under reduced pressure of 4&#xd7;10MPa.

A resin composition includes a polycarbonate resin derived from an ether diol residue such as isosorbide and has excellent impact resistance, heat resistance, heat stability and moldability. A process for production of a plant-derived component-containing polycarbonate represented by the following formula (3): (wherein R-Reach independently represent a group selected from among hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl and aryl, and n is the number of repeating units), by melt polycondensation using as the starting materials a specified diol, having a total content of Na, Fe and Ca of no greater than 2 ppm and a purity analysis value of at least 99.7% by gas chromatography, and a specified carbonic acid diester, having a total content of Na, Fe and Ca of no greater than 2 ppm and a purity analysis value of at least 99.7% by gas chromatography.

Polycarbonate containing plant-derived component and process for the preparation thereof

An object of the present invention is to provide a polycarbonate resin composition which has a high content of biogenic matter and is excellent in heat resistance, heat stability, moldability, hue and transparency.
