A method of manufacturing an ink jet head having a substrate that has a plurality of energy generating elements used for generating energy that in turn is used to discharge ink. The substrate has recessed portions separating the energy generating elements, and a wall member is provided having depending flow passage walls which are joined respectively to the recessed portions. The energy generating elements act on the ink and discharge it through the flow passages.

Method of manufacturing an ink jet head

In a liquid ejection head comprising a plurality of opened liquid flow passages arranged side by side and communicating with ejection orifices through which a liquid is ejected, and thermal energy generating elements for generating thermal energy utilized to eject the liquid through the ejection orifices and generating bubbles in the liquid, at least one closed liquid flow passage closed at one end corresponding to the ejection orifice is provided in at least one end side of the plurality of opened liquid flow passages communicating with the ejection orifices. Since the closed liquid flow passage is not communicated with open air, the liquid is relatively hard to flow into the closed liquid flow passage. Accordingly, a bubble having the function of absorbing a liquid vibration caused upon ejection of the liquid is formed to extend from the interior of the closed liquid flow passage rearward. Vibrations of liquid meniscuses at the ejection orifices can be suppressed with the presence of the bubble. A method of manufacturing the liquid ejection head with ease is also provided.

A method for producing a liquid discharge head provided with a head main body including plural energy generating elements for generating energy for discharging liquid as a flying liquid droplet, and plural liquid paths in which the energy generating elements are respectively provided, and an orifice plate adjoined to the head main body and provided with plural discharge ports respectively communicating with the liquid paths and plural independent projections formed around the discharge ports and respectively corresponding to the discharge ports so as to enter into the liquid paths and to engage therewith. The method includes steps of forming the plural projections and the discharge ports while a continuous resinous film is transported; separating the film in a continuous manner in a predetermined size including the portion on which the discharge ports are formed, thereby preparing the orifice plate; and adjoining the orifice plate to the head main body.

To provide an ink-jet head substrate enabling both highly koge. characteristic ink and corrosive ink to be used, an ink-jet head using the same basis and an ink-jet recording apparatus equipped with the same head. The ink-jet head substrate includes: heat generating resistors forming heat generating sections on a base; electrode wires electrically connected to the heat generating resistors; and anti-cavitation films installed via an insulator protective layer on the heat generating resistors and the electrode wires, in which the anti-cavitation film is formed of materials varying with individual given areas on the base.

In a liquid discharge head having a movable member displaced by generation of a bubble, endurance of stepped portions of the movable member and of root portions of movable parts of the movable member is enhanced and flexure deformation of the movable member is prevented to enhance endurance of the member. A pressing member for covering stepped portions of a movable member and root portions of branched movable parts is provided within a flow path. A part of the pressing member is tapered and extends to a downstream side (toward a discharge port) to be spaced apart from the movable member, thereby forming a flexure regulating portion opposed to and spaced apart from an intermediate portion of the movable member. The pressing member and the flexure regulating portion suppress excessive deformation of the movable member.

A recording head records data by correcting a variation among recording elements without significantly increasing a size of a substrate of the recording head. The recording head includes a plurality of heat generating elements and a circuit for energizing the heat generating elements in accordance with record data to record data. Selection information for selecting one of a plurality of pre-heat pulse signals is non-volatilly stored in a ROM and one of the pre-heat signal pulses applied to an input terminal is selected in accordance with the selection information stored in the ROM to pre-heat the heat generating elements.

A method for manufacturing a liquid discharge head comprises the steps of providing a head main body having liquid flow paths, and an aperture surface having flow path openings communicated with the flow paths; providing a discharge port plate having extrusions each on the circumference of an inside opening communicated with each of the discharge ports, being on the inner face on the side opposite to the discharge port surface provided with discharge ports for discharging liquid, and a base having a substantially flat surface. For this method, the discharge port plate is arranged in a state of these surfaces formed integrally to be in contact; bonding the aperture surface and the inner face to fit the extrusions into the flow path openings by pressing the head main body and the base in the direction of the head main body and the base approaching each other with the discharge port plate between them; and separating the base from other members. With the method of manufacture thus structure, the liquid discharge head presents an excellent discharge efficiency by the provision of the extrusions that enter the flow paths from the orifice plate. It also becomes possible to manufacture a highly reliable liquid discharge head by a simpler manufacturing apparatus in a shorter period of time at lower costs.

It is an object of the present invention to ensure a desired precision in positioning an orifice plate with respect to liquid flow paths of a head main body, so as to prevent a failure liquid discharge which will possibly be caused due to a problem involved in a process of forming the orifice holes. In detail, a head main body is formed on the lower wall thereof a plurality of heating elements, has a plurality of liquid flow paths formed by dividing an internal space with a plurality of liquid flow path walls and arranged in parallel relationship with one another. On either side of the plurality of the liquid flow paths there are formed two dummy liquid flow paths. An orifice plate is formed with a plurality of orifice holes arranged in parallel with one another for discharging ink. Further, on either side of the plurality of the orifice holes there are formed two projected portions so shaped that they are capable of engaging with the opening ends of the dummy liquid flow paths. Each of the projected portions is formed with a dummy orifice hole which is not used for discharging ink during recording operation. A desired positioning can be effected by engaging the projected portions of the orifice plate with the dummy liquid flow paths.

In a liquid discharge head having an orifice plate in which a plurality of discharge ports for discharging liquid droplets therethrough are arranged, and a head body provided with a plurality of flow paths communicating with the plurality of discharge ports, a liquid chamber for supplying liquid to the plurality of flow paths, and a plurality of energy generation elements disposed correspondingly to the plurality of flow paths and generating energy for discharging the liquid droplets, the orifice plate being joined to the joined surface of the head body in which the communication ports of the flow paths communicating with the discharge ports are disposed, the orifice plate is formed with wall-shaped convex portions protruding from the inner peripheral portions of the discharge ports and having at least a portion thereof entering from the communication ports into the flow paths, and the width of the wall-shaped convex portions is greater in the portions thereof parallel to the row direction in which the plurality of discharge ports are arranged than in the portions thereof orthogonal to the row direction.

A method for manufacturing an ink jet recording head by combining each of the processes to fabricate a heater board comprises (I) the first step of patterning a resistive layer on a substrate, (II) the second step of laminating a first protection layer and patterning the protection layer to form a groove by removing an area for wiring electrode layers to be formed later, (III) the third step of laminating a layer formed by material for use of the wiring electrode layers, (IV) the forth step of continuously giving heat treatment to the surface of the substrate, while the surface is not allowed to be exposed to the air outside, to enable the layer formed by the material of the wiring electrode layers to flow into only the groove on the first protection layer provided in the first step, and making the surface flat, as a result of which, a pair of electrode layers are formed to enable the resistive layer between them to be constituted as the heat generating unit and (V) the fifth step of forming a second protection layer. With this method of manufacture, it is possible to provide an ink jet recording head whose power dissipation is small, while having a good durability and capability of recording in high quality.
