A polypropylene-based adhesive containing a polypropylene-based resin (A') prepared by reducing the weight-average molecular weight of a polypropylene-based resin (A) by decomposition, in which the melting endotherm (ΔH-D) of the polypropylene-based resin (A) is 0 J/g or more and 80 J/g or less, as obtained from a melting endothermic curve drawn by holding a sample at −10° C. for 5 minutes in a nitrogen atmosphere followed by heating it at 10° C./min using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC).

The present invention relates to a thermoplastic resin composition containing a base polymer containing a propylene-based polymer (A) in which a melting endotherm (ΔH-D) is 0 J/g or more and 60 J/g or less, and a melting point (Tm-D) is not observed or is 0° C. or higher and 120° C. or lower; and a propylene-based polymer (C) in which a melting endotherm (ΔH-D) is 20 J/g or more and 120 J/g or less, and a melting point (Tm-D) is higher than 120° C., the content of the propylene-based polymer (C) being 0.5 parts by mass or more and 100 parts by mass or less relative to 100 parts by mass of the content of the propylene-based polymer (A).

The invention provides a polymerization catalyst produced by bringing components (A) to (D) into contact with one another in a hydrocarbon solvent at 30 to 60&#xb0; C., wherein the component (A) is a transition metal compound, the component (B) is a solid boron compound capable of forming an ion pair with component (A), the component (C) is an organoaluminum compound, and the component (D) is one or more unsaturated hydrocarbon compounds selected from among an &#x3b1;-olefin, an internal olefin, and a polyene; and the amounts of component (B) and component (C) are 1.2 to 4.0 mol and 5.0 to 50.0 mol, respectively, on the basis of 1 mol of component (A), which catalyst exhibits high activity and can be readily supplied to a polymerization reaction system. The invention also provides a method of storing the polymerization catalyst at 0 to 35&#xb0; C.

Polymerization catalysts and method for preservation of same

A highly crystalline higher &#x3b1;-olefin polymer that is excellent in compatibility with a thermoplastic resin, particularly a polyolefin, compatibility with a lubricant oil, a fuel oil and wax, mixing property with an inorganic filler, and secondary working property, and a process for production thereof are provided. The highly crystalline higher &#x3b1;-olefin polymer is obtained by polymerizing a monomer containing 80% by mol or more of a higher &#x3b1;-olefin having from 22 to 40 carbon atoms, and satisfies the following items (1) and (2). (1) The melting point (Tm), which is observed, by using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), from a melting endothermic curve obtained by maintaining a specimen at 190&#xb0; C. for 5 minutes under a nitrogen atmosphere, cooling the specimen to &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. at a rate of 5&#xb0; C./min, maintaining at &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. for 5 minutes, and then elevating a temperature thereof to 190&#xb0; C. at a rate of 10&#xb0; C./min, is from 55 to 100&#xb0; C. (2) Standards weight average molecular weight (Mw) measured by a gel permeation chromatography (GPC) based on polystyrene is from 1,000 to 5,000,000, and the molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) measured thereby is 5.0 or less.

Highly crystalline higher &#x3b1;-olefin polymer and process for production thereof

Provided is an &#x3b1;-olefin polymer having an excellent balance between a molecular weight and a melting point, which is a polymer of one or more kinds of &#x3b1;-olefins having 20 to 40 carbon atoms, and which meets the following requirements (1) to (4): (1) the &#x3b1;-olefin polymer has a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) determined from its weight average molecular weight (Mw) and number average molecular weight (Mn) in terms of polystyrene measured by a GPC method of 2 or less, and has an Mw of 5,000 or less; (2) measurement of a melting point (Tm) of the &#x3b1;-olefin polymer with DSC shows one melting peak, a melting heat absorption (AH) calculated from an area of the melting peak is 20 J/g or more, and the melting peak has a half value width of 10&#xb0; C. or less; (3) when the Mw falls within a range of 1,000 to 5,000 and an average number of carbon atoms (Cn) of the &#x3b1;-olefins falls within a range of 20 to 40, the Mw, the Cn, and the Tm measured with the DSC satisfy the relationship, 0.0025&#xd7;Mw+(Cn&#xd7;3.3812&#x2212;29.5)&#x2266;Tm&#x2266;0.0025&#xd7;Mw+((Cn+1)&#xd7;3.3812&#x2212;29.5); and (4) a stereoregularity index [M] derived from a chain of the &#x3b1;-olefins each having 20 to 40 carbon atoms is 20% by mol or more.

&#x3b1;-Olefin polymer and process for production thereof

A 1-butene polymer satisfying the following (1), (2) and either (3) or (3'): a process for producing the polymer; a resin modifier comprising the polymer; and a hot-melt adhesive containing the polymer. (1) The intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] as measured in tetralin solvent at 135&#xb0; C. is 0.01 to 0.5 dL/g. (2) The polymer is a crystalline resin having a melting point (Tm-D) of 0 to 100&#xb0; C., the melting point being defined as the top of the peak observed on the highest-temperature side in a melting endothermic curve obtained with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) in a test in which a sample is held in a nitrogen atmosphere at &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. for 5 min and then heated at a rate of 10&#xb0; C./min. (3) The stereoregularity index {(mmmm)/(mmrr+rmmr)} is 30 or lower. (3&#x2032;) The mesopentad content (mmmm) determined from a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrum is 68 to 73%.

Highly flowable 1-butene polymer and process for producing the same

A water dispersible resin composition capable of forming a flat and smooth coating film with a solidified surface upon application to a base material and excellent in storage stability is provided. It is a water dispersible resin composition comprising 0.01 to 5 parts by mass of a surfactant (C) relative to 100 parts by mass of a combination of 5 to 70% by mass of a side-chain crystalline resin (A) with 95 to 30% by mass of water (B) as well as a water dispersible polyolefin-based resin composition comprising a combination of 5 to 80% by mass of a modified side-chain crystalline polyolefin-based resin with 95 to 20% by mass of water, in which for example, a side-chain crystalline olefin-based polymer (G) obtained by polymerization of one kind or more of higher &#x3b1;-olefins having 10 or more carbon atoms is modified with a radical initiator and an organic acid, organic acid anhydride or organic acid ester.

Water-dispersible resin composition and water-dispersible polyolefin resin composition

Provided is a water dispersible polyolefin resin composition which is capable of forming a coating film having a smooth solidified surface when applied onto a substrate and which has excellent storage stability. The water dispersible polyolefin resin composition contains (C) a surfactant, (D) a water-soluble polymeric compound and (E) a water-insoluble organic solvent in amounts of 0.01 to 1.00 part by mass, 0.01 to 1.00 part by mass and 2 to 200 parts by mass, respectively, per 100 parts by mass of a combination of 5 to 70% by mass of (A) a poly(1-butene) resin having (i) a mesopentad fraction [mmmm] of 20 to 80 mole % and (ii) a weight average molecular weight (Mw) measured by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) of 10,000 to 1,000,000 or 5 to 70% by mass of (A') polypropylene resin having (i) a mesopentad fraction [mmmm] of 20 to 60 mole % and (ii) an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] measured at 135&#xb0; C. in tetralin of 0.1 to 15 dl/g with 95 to 30% by mass of (B) water.

Water-dispersible polyolefin resin composition

A propylenic polymer according to the present invention or a composition thereof have an excellent melt flowability and contains a less amount of stickiness-causing components, and also has a low modulus and is pliable, and is capable of providing a transparent molded article, thus being useful as a substitute for a pliable vinyl chloride resin. In addition, a molded article made therefrom exhibits an excellent heat seal performance at a low temperature, and is excellent in terms of transparency and rigidity. Specifically, it has an isotactic pentad fraction (mmmm), which indicates a stereoregulariry, of 30 to 80%, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3.5 or less and an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of 0.8 to 5 dl/g.

Propylene polymer and composition containing the same, molded object and laminate comprising these, and processes for producing propylene polymer and composition containing the same

The present invention relates to a method for producing a modified propylene-based polymer containing modifying a propylene-based polymer by a radical initiator and an organic acid, a modified propylene-based polymer obtained by the method, and an adhesive composition containing the modified propylene-based polymer. The propylene-based polymer is a propylene homopolymer satisfying the conditions of (a) mmmm=20 to 60 mol %, (b) [rrrr/(1-mmmm)]&#x2266;0.1, (c) rmrm&#x3e;2.5 mol %, (d) mmxrr/(mr)&#x2266;2.0, and (e) the weight ratio (W25) of components eluted at 25&#xb0; C. or lower in a temperature programmed chromatography is 20 to 100% by weight, or a propylene copolymer satisfying the condition of (h) the stereoregularity index (P) obtained byC-NMR measurement is 55 to 90 mol %. The modified propylene-based polymer of the invention can make a polyolefin, etc. more adhesive, stronger, or flexible, to be useful for a high-adhesive sealant or an polyolefin with increased compatibility to an inorganic filler, etc., particularly as a resin for a hot-melt adhesive.

Process for production of modified propylene polymers and modified propylene polymers produced by the process

The present invention relates to a process for producing a buten-1-based polymer satisfying the following requirements (a), (b) and (c): (a) a crystalline resin having a melting point (Tm-D) of 0 to 100&#xb0; C., the melting point being defined as a top of a peak observed on a highest-temperature side in a melting endothermic curve obtained by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) when a sample is held in a nitrogen atmosphere at &#x2212;10&#xb0; C. for 5 min and then heated at a temperature rise rate of 10&#xb0; C./min; (b) a stereoregularity index represented by (mmmm)/(mmrr+rmmr) of 20 or less; and (c) a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 10,000 to 1,000,000 and a ratio (Mw/Mn) of weight-average molecular weight to number-average molecular weight of 4.0 or less; a modified buten-1-based polymer produced by modifying the buten-1-based polymer with a radical polymerization initiator and an organic acid; and an adhesive composition containing the modified buten-1-based polymer. The modified buten-1-based polymer of the present invention is capable of imparting a high adhesiveness, a high strength and a good softness to polyolefins, and providing sealants having a high adhesiveness, or polyolefins having an improved compatibility to inorganic fillers, etc., in particular, is useful as resins for hot-melt adhesives.

Process for producing modified butene-1 polymer and modified butene-1 polymer obtained by the process

The propylene polymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a 25&#xb0; C. hexane soluble content (H25) of 0-80 wt %; and (2) either no melting temperature (Tm) measurable by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), or a melting temperature (Tm) satisfying, if measurable by DSC, the following relationship: &#x394;H&#x2267;3&#xd7;(Tm&#x2212;120) wherein &#x394;H is a melting endotherm (J/g). The propylene homopolymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a meso pentad fraction (mmmm) of 30-60 mol %; (2) a racemic pentad fraction (rrrr) satisfying the following relationship: [rrrr/(1&#x2212;mmmm)]&#x2266;0.1; (3) a fraction (W25) eluted at a temperatures up to 25&#xb0; C. by temperature-programmed chromatography, of from 20-100 wt %; and, (4) a pentad fraction (rmrm) of more than 2.5 mol %. The propylene copolymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a stereoregularity index (P) of 55-90 mol % as determined byC-NMR measurement; and (2) a fraction (W25) eluted at a temperatures up to 25&#xb0; C. by temperature-programmed chromatography, of from 20-100 wt %.
