A method for producing a separator for a fuel cell including, first, mixing carbon particles with thermoplastic resin particles to produce mixed particles, and kneading the mixed particles into pellets. Second, the pellets are extruded and formed into a sheet-form base material. Third, the sheet-form base material is grooved by rolling with a roller having a pattern on a peripheral surface thereof. The pattern on the roller is transferred on the separator to have a predetermined groove pattern.

A method for manufacturing a carbon sheet, particularly for an electrode of a fuel cell, includes the steps of forming a sheet by mixing carbon fibers and a bonding agent; drying the formed sheet; immersing the dried formed sheet in a water repellent material particle dispersed dilute solution; removing the formed sheet from the water repel material particle dispersed dilute solution; baking the formed sheet for fixing water repel material particles thereon contained in the water repel material particle dispersed dilute solution; and oxidizing the bonding agent for removing the same from the formed sheet during the baking.

Method for manufacturing carbon sheet

A superconductive ceramic composite material with high strength and capable of plastic deformation is prepared by mixing and sintering a superconductive powder represented by (RE.sub.x AE.sub.1-x).sub.1-y Cu.sub.y O.sub.z (RE represents Y or a rare-earth element having an atomic number of 57-71, or a combination of at least two of these elements, AE is at least one of alkaline earth elements Ca, Sr and Ba, x is 0.13-0.67, y is 0.25-0.67, and z is 1.08-1.17) and a metal powder M (M represents at least one of noble metals Rh, Pd, Ag, Ir, Pt and Au), in a defined ratio. The deformation (e.g., rolling) is followed by reheat-treatment (resintering). The powder mixture can be enclosed in a metallic capsule or made into a clad sheet by interposing the powder within two metallic sheets, and deformed (drawn or press formed into a desired shape) followed by sintering. The composite material may contain a superconductive network of such grains.

Superconductive ceramic composite material

A superconductor wire comprising an inner core and an outer ring covering the core, wherein one of the inner core and the outer ring comprises a sintered silver powder and the other of the inner core and the outer ring on the core comprises a sintered oxide superconductor powder.

A casting is produced by centrifugal casting in which molten metal of gray cast iron is poured into a cavity formed in a mold during rotation of the mold under centrifugal force. The casting comprises a gray cast iron region and a spheroidal graphite cast iron region from which the graphite structure is gradually transformed toward the gray cast iron region through an intermediate region of vermicular graphite. The spheroidal graphite region and the intermediate region are formed by a reaction of the molten metal with spheroidizing agent in the cavity during rotation of the mold and solidification of the molten metal. The spheroidizing agent is provided in the cavity to a position where the casting is to be increased in strength and abrasion resistance. The spheroidizing agent can be introduced along with the molten metal through the pouring gate into the mold cavity to a defined position of casting.

Method for producing casting with functional gradient

A method of forming a metallic composite product having a specific gravity no greater than 1.8 and a thermal expansion no greater than 16.times.10.sup.-6 .degree. C. in a preheated mold. The portion of the mold between a cavity and the gate has a stainless steel wire gauge for retaining particles. The mold is filled with screened fly ash, glass, hollow spheres having a particle size in the range of 50 to 200 micrometers and a globularness of at least 90%, which has been preheated to the same temperature as the mold. Molten aluminum alloy is injected into the mold at a pressure in the range of from 40 to 80 kgf cm.sup.2 at the gate and at a flow velocity in the range of 0.08 to 0.20 m/second.

A process for production of superconductor wire having multiple rings, comprising the steps of: preparing a silver mixture comprising a silver or silver-gold alloy mixed with a bonding agent, and a superconductor mixture comprising a superconductor powder with bonding agent; arranging both the silver mixture and the superconductor mixture in a extrusion die; extruding a wire having at least one ring of the superconductor mixture and one ring of the silver mixture in the radial direction; and heating the wire at the sinter temperature of the oxide superconductor so that the bonding agent is removed and the oxide superconductor powder and the silver powder are sintered. A superconductor wire comprising an inner core and an outer ring covering the core, wherein one of the ring on the core comprises a sintered silver powder and the other of the ring on the core comprises a sintered oxide superconductor powder.

Superconductor wire and process for production thereof

An electroconductive resin composition which is composed of a rubber-reinforced styrene resin having a controlled pH value of from 5.0 through 9.0 and a carbon material filler and a metal material filler as incorporated into the resin. A method of preparing the electroconductive resin composition where a rubber-reinforced styrene resin is adjusted to have a pH value of from 5.0 through 9.0 and a carbon material filler and a metal material filler are added to the resin.

An electric conductive polyphenylene sulfide resin composition comprising: from 15 to 30% by weight of glass fiber with respect to the weight sum of polyphenylene sulfide resin and glass fiber taken as 100% by weight; and from 20 to 30% by volume of copper alloy fiber with respect to the volume sum of polyphenylene sulfide resin, glass fiber and copper alloy fiber taken as 100% by volume. The electric conductive polyphenylene resin composition is an optium material for enclosures for automobile electronics apparatuses which are disposed outside the passenger room.

Welding between a rotor and shaft is accomplished by first placing the shaft within a movable holder of a pressure device. The rotor is then placed in the lower or stationary holder of the pressure device. Each holder is an electrode that can electrify the shaft and rotor. The stationary holder is a cup or container which has inside the cup, a low melting point alloy which conducts electricity from the lower electrode to the rotor to prevent concentration of electricity. Welding is finished by lowering the shaft onto the rotor which is in the cup which is heated to liquefy the low melting point alloy. As the shaft and rotor are pressed together, current is passed through each by the electrodes. The junction of the shaft and rotor are melted and thus joined. After cooling, any of the low melting point metal which remains on the rotor is removed by inserting the rotor in boiling water.

A roll forming apparatus comprises a plurality of driving roll stands and a plurality of drivingless roll stands, wherein the drivingless roll forming stand comprises an upper and a lower roll units and side roll units arranged around a central through-hole of a plate member supported by a supporting post. Each of the roll forming stands is adapted for automatically positioning each of the rolls associated therewith to preset positions for bending operation. The plate member is rotatable about the axis of the central hole, and a transverse slide table fixedly mounting the supporting post is transversely movable to the axis. An artificial stem unit for coxa with a setting guide comprises a stem made of metal to be inserted into the marrow cavity of a femur and a setting guide for fixing the stem in the marrow cavity comprising a cylindrical core rod and a plug attached to the end of the cylindrical core rod.
