An outdoor unit for a heat pump is usable under very cold weather conditions since the outdoor unit includes an auxiliary heating system which heats a heat exchanger in order to prevent the heat exchanger from forming frost and which also compensates for the decline in heating capacity. Further, the outdoor unit has an air flow preventing arrangement which prevents the flow of air through the heat exchanger when the absorption of the heat from the atmosphere is not efficient. The outdoor unit drives compressors by an internal combustion engine in order to reduce the consumption of electric power and the coolant for the engine is also utilized to provide auxiliary heat to the heat exchanger. The outdoor unit also includes a boiler to compensate for the lack of heating capacity in the engine waste heat. The boiler is operated when the atmospheric temperature is less than the predetermined value.

A turbocharger control device for use in conjunction with an internal combustion engine includes a turbine driven by exhaust gases; a compressor connected with the turbine by having a shaft having a hole through the diameter; a photo projector and photo receiver facing each other across the shaft at the location of the through-hole for generating a light pulse signal proportional to the rate of rotation of the shaft; a photo-voltage converter connected optically with the photo receiver for converting the light pulse signal to an electrical pulse signal; an engine control unit connected electrically with the converter for generating a control signal in response to the electrical signal; an actuator connected with the engine control unit for movement in response to the control signal; an exhaust gas bypass passage connected between upstream and downstream portions of the turbine; and a bypass valve operatively connected to the actuator and associated with the bypass passage for controlling the flow through the bypass passage in response to the control signal.

The present invention provides a new and improved solenoid actuated valve device for controlling the flow of fluid comprising a body having an inlet and an outlet port extending therethrough, a hollow tubular core axially mounted within said body with one end thereof disposed in communication with said outlet port and having at least one radially extending aperture therethrough to provide communication between said inlet port and said outlet port, a bobbin slidably mounted on said core to control the effective open area of said aperture, a solenoid coil wound on said bobbin, an annular yoke resiliently mounted within said body, permanent magnets secured in said yoke so that the magnetic flux thereof intersects the windings of said solenoid coil at right angles thereto, a cover secured to said body in engagement with the other end of said core, said body, said cover member, said yoke and said core being of magnetic material to define a magnetic circuit with said permanent magnets to provide a magnetic force causing said bobbin to move relative to said core when an electric current passes through said coil, springs biasing said bobbin to a position closing said aperture and resilient stoppers against which said bobbin will bear in the closed position relative to said aperture. The resilient stoppers also act to resiliently support one end of the yoke in sealing engagement with the body intermediate said inlet and said outlet ports.

Solenoid actuated valve device

A solenoid actuated valve device for controlling the flow of fluid comprising a body having an inlet port, a first outlet port, a second outlet port, and a bore for fluid communication with the inlet and first outlet ports at one end thereof and for fluid communication with the second outlet port at the other end thereof. A magnetic hollow tubular core is axially mounted within the bore for dividing the bore into an annular outer chamber, a first inner chamber and a second inner chamber communicating among the inlet port, first outlet port and second outlet port, respectively, and the core has first and second apertures for fluid communication between the outer chamber and first and second inner chambers, respectively. A non-magnetic bobbin, having a valve and at least two radially outwardly extending and circumferentially spacing projections, is slidably mounted on an outer periphery of the core to control the effective open areas of the first and second apertures, the projections defining a first series of fluid passages therebetween for decreasing the dynamic fluid pressure axially acting thereon. Springs are seated at one end thereof against the projections of the bobbin for biasing the bobbin to a position wherein the valve closes the first aperture and opens the second aperture. A solenoid coil is wound on said bobbin, and permanent magnets are secured in the body so that the magnetic flux thereof intersects the winding of the solenoid coil at right angles thereto. An electromagnet defines a magnetic circuit with the core and the permanent magnets to provide a magnetic force causing the bobbin to move axially against the springs when electric current passes through the solenoid coil.

An electromagnetic flow control valve assembly includes a valve body having first and second ports and a valve member for controlling fluid communication between said first and second ports. An annular diaphragm is connected at its inner periphery to the valve member and at its outer periphery to the valve body so as to define with said valve body first and second chambers. The first chamber is in continuous fluid communication with the first port through a passage in the valve member while the second chamber is in continuous communication with the second port. The area of the diaphragm subjected to fluid pressure within the second chamber being equal to the effective area of the valve member subjected to fluid pressure within the second chamber to thereby offset the force of fluid pressure acting on the valve member.

Electromagnetic flow control valve assembly

An actuator device used with an engine-idle control system of an automobile provided with an air-conditioner, and is adapted so as to operate an operating rod in association with a throttle valve opening lever of an internal combustion engine. The actuator device includes an actuator housing having a guide member, a diaphragm member within the housing to thereby define two chambers within the housing, a plunger member secured to the diaphragm member at one end thereof and extending out through the housing at the other end thereof, the plunger member being slidably supported by the guide member, a lock nut for fastening the operating rod to the plunger member and being of hexagonal external form, an adjusting member including a hub portion in which a nut member is securely positioned, the nut member being moved via threads formed on the plunger member, a plurality of extending members which axially extend from the hub portion and which are elastically in contact with the hexagonal external face of the lock nut, the hub portion having a ring shaped knurling peripheral portion, and a stopping flange portion in contact with the guide member.

Actuator device

An electrically operated fluid control valve unit is associated with a moving-coil linear motor which includes the quantity of fluid flow across the tubular core, a permanent magnet for providing magnetic flux through the tubular core, a permanent magnet for providing magnetic flux through the tubular core, a moving-coil wound on the bobbin across the magnetic flux of the magnet to provide a linear force on the bobbin, and a pair of conductive springs connecting the moving-coil to an electric control circuit and biasing the bobbin toward its initial position. Each of the springs is insulated from one another and from the valve housing, the tubular core and the like to prevent from unexpected short of the springs.

Electrically operated fluid control valve unit

A diaphragm air pump assembly pneumatically associated with a vacuum source and an atmospheric air source, comprises two diaphragms interconnected by a vertically extending rod to define two vacuum operational chambers and two pump chambers, two valves for controlling the alternative admission of vacuum to the vacuum operational chambers, and two normally closed valves operable in response to movement of the diaphragms in unison with the rod, each of two corresponding constituent parts being disposed and mounted in a symmetrical arrangement with respect to the central axis of the pump assembly. When the diaphragms are moved in one direction, one of two normally closed valves is opened to admit the vacuum into one of two vacuum operational chambers while admitting atmospheric air into the other vacuum operational chamber. When the diaphragms are moved in the other direction the other normally closed valve is opened to admit the vacuum into the other vacuum operational chamber while admitting atmospheric air into one of two vacuum operational chambers. Thus two pump chambers are alternatively compressed to effect the pumping operation.

Diaphragm air pump assembly

An orifice apparatus is provided which couples a vacuum advancer of a distributor associated with an engine for a vehicle with a carburetor of the engine. The orifice apparatus includes a body having an upper and a lower opening between which an isolation wall is formed in which a plurality of orifices are circumferentially spaced apart at an equal angular interval. A plurality of orifice members are disposed below the isolation wall and each has an orifice of a different diameter formed therein which is located below one of the plurality of orifices. A rotary plate is disposed above the isolation wall and is secured to a regulating member in the form of a rotatable shaft. A seal member is bonded to the lower surface of the rotary plate, which is formed with a passage port which can be brought into alignment with one of the plurality of orifices formed in the isolation wall. The rotary plate is urged by a single coiled spring toward the isolation wall so that the seal member is pressed to provide a hermetic seal between the rotary plate and the upper surface of the isolation wall. The seal member is formed with a plurality of openings, each corresponding to one of the plurality of orifices in the isolation wall and having a greater dimension than the corresponding orifice. These openings are circumferentially spaced apart at an equal angular interval. The regulating member is driven for rotation to move the passage port of the rotary plate from a position in which it is substantially aligned with one of the plurality of orifices formed in the isolation wall to another position in which it is aligned with another orifice, whereby the particular orifice which provides a communication between chambers formed in the body of orifice apparatus above and below the isolation wall is changed, thus changing the throttle level of the fluid path which joins the chambers.

A temperature responsive switch is provided which comprises a pair of bimetal discs having different temperature-deformation characteristics, a pair of fixed electrical contacts and a movable electrical contact. The movable contact engages one of the fixed contacts in response to a deformation of the pair of bimetal discs or remain free from engagement with either fixed contact. The engagement of the movable contact with one or the other of the fixed contacts and the absence of its engagement with either fixed contact constitute three conditionswhich permits a detection of a temperature of at least three different regions.

Temperature responsive switch

An electromagnetic valve assembly including a housing, a diaphragm member provided in the housing and defining first and second chambers therein, a first heat conducting plate member secured to the diaphragm member, a heat conductive output member secured to the first heat conductive plate member and extending outside of the housing, a heat conductive spring member one end of which is engaged with the heat conductive plate member, the spring member being positioned within the first chamber and normally biasing the diaphragm member in one direction, a solenoid coil positioned in the first chamber energized in repsonse to an electric signal, a contact operatively associated with the solenoid coil movable in response to energization of the solenoid coil, a first and second pressure source, a first valve member controlling fluid communication between the first chamber and the first pressure source in response to movement of the movable contact, a second valve member controlling fluid communication between the first chamber and the second pressure source in response to movement of the movable contact, and second heat conductive plate member positioned between the solenoid coil and an opposite end of the spring member for transmitting heat generated by the solenoid coil to the spring member.

Electromagnetic valve assembly

The solenoid actuated valve device is comprised of a housing of magnetic material having a radially disposed inlet and at least one axially disposed outlet in communication with the interior of a hollow magnetic core disposed within the body. An annular bobbin having a solenoid coil wound thereon is slidably mounted on the core and is normally biased into a position closing at least one elongated radially extending opening through the core. Permanent magnets are secured to the interior of the body in such a manner that the lines of flux intersect the solenoid coil at right angles thereto. Two springs normally bias the bobbin to the closed position and extend between one end of the bobbin and a spring support member disposed adjacent one end of the body. Each spring is connected to one end of the coil and to a respective electrical terminal for supplying electric current to the solenoid coil and the position of the spring support is adjustable relative to the end of the housing by means of a screw threadably extending through the end of the housing into engagement with the spring holder to vary the spring force acting on the bobbin. The connection between the two springs and the ends of the solenoid coil are insulated from the bobbin to prevent a short circuit which would deprive the solenoid coil of electric current. The connections between the two springs and the terminals are also encapsulated with insulating material subsequent to the adjustment of the spring holder relative to the end of the housing.

An integrated valve device includes a base board means and control valve means mounted thereon for an exhaust gas purifying system. The control valve means is provided at its outer surface with a pair of fingers adapted to be inserted into openings on the base board means. The fingers engage therefore with shoulders of the openings when mounted on the base board means.

Integrated valve device

A valve device includes a base board and a suction pressure responsive valve having two ports defined by tubular portions. The base board is composed of a pair of superimposed plates and a sealing gasket between the plates. One of the plates is formed with a pair of channels and the other with a pair of openings communicating with the channels, respectively. The sealing gasket has a pair of tubular portions disposed respectively in the openings of the base board plate with radial clearances. The tubular portions of the suction pressure responsive valve are sealingly inserted respectively into the tubular portions in the sealing gasket.

Suction pressure responsive valve device

A thermally responsive valve comprising a body separated into two portions and having an inlet port and an outlet port, two passages connecting the inlet port with the outlet port, a bimetal operated valve provided in one of two passages, and a check-valve provided in the other passage for permitting fluid flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. The check-valve is made of elastic material such as synthetic rubber and used as a sealing member between the two portions of the body.
