Of the links constituting a support route R which connects the current position pand the destination position pof the user, the links satisfying an extraction condition set according to a changing pattern of a road type are extracted as target links. Navigation server, navigation apparatus, and navigation system

A navigation server and the like capable of making a navigation deviceoutput a route having adequacy in view of various circumstances is provided. A navigation serverrecognizes a navigation route r(k) for guiding the automobileto the destination position pwhich is set according to the first algorithm by the navigation device. Navigation system

A system for providing a vehicle with traffic information reflecting the real traffic condition in each traveling direction is provided, even if the vehicle travels in either branch direction in a branch point area including the branch point. A traffic information server collects information on the time required for traveling in the branch point area from an information providing vehicle and generates information on the time required for traveling in each traveling direction in the branch point area on the basis of the information. Upon receiving a request for providing the traffic information from a navigation system of a vehicle the traffic information server transmits the information on the time required for traveling in each traveling direction or the information on the time required for traveling on each route in the branch point area generated from the above information.

Traffic information providing system

To provide a system that can provide traffic information to drivers of automobiles or the like with high prediction precision. In a traffic information management system according to the present invention, a first processing unitrecognizes a transition pattern of the necessary travel time for an automobilefor each unit road. A second processing unitrecognizes a route including one or more unit roads by communicating with a navigation system. For each unit road included in the route, a third processing unitsearches for a 'resembling pattern' that resembles a 'reference pattern' from a &#x201c;past pattern&#x201d;. A fourth processing unitpredicts the necessary travel time required for the automobile to travel the route or a unit road included in the route based on the resembling pattern. A communication processing unittransmits traffic information including the predicted necessary travel time to the navigation system

Traffic information management system

The invention provides a navigation apparatus and a navigation server capable of providing information to the user enabling comparison between a route that the user is actually traveling and a different route. According to a car navigation apparatus, a route setup unitsets up plural routes. An actual route recognition unitrecognizes an 'actual route' of the vehicle M. Further, a virtual route recognition unitrecognizes a 'virtual route' that differs from the actual route. Moreover, a virtual travel information recognition unitrecognizes a &#x201c;virtual travel information&#x201d; containing a virtual position of the vehicle M on the virtual route. The actual travel information, the actual route, the virtual travel information and the virtual route are displayed on a liquid crystal panel

Navigation apparatus and navigation server

A vehicle navigation server for providing traffic information, which is useful and has a suitable data amount, to a vehicle navigation device, so as to make the vehicle have a comfortable travel. The server calculates at least one proposed travel based on input data including a current or start position and a destination of the vehicle, and defines a map mesh consisting of mesh units on the proposed travel route. The server extracts traffic information relating to each mesh unit from a traffic information storage device in turn, where traffic information relating to the mesh unit which includes the start or current position is obtained first. The server monitors a total amount of extracted information, and terminates information extraction for the following mesh units when the total amount becomes equal to or larger than a predetermined value. The server then sends the traffic information to a vehicle navigation device.

A fuel injection control system for an internal combustion engine has at least one unit injector for injecting fuel into each cylinder, and an actuator provided for each of the at least one unit injector for varying the stroke of a plunger of the each unit injector. When a rise ratio of rotational speed of the engine calculated exceeds a predetermined value, the actuator is shifted to a predetermined position, thereby preventing an abnormal rise in the rotational speed of the engine. Similarly, when a no-load condition of the engine is detected, the actuator is shifted to a predetermined position.
