The process includes supplying to a surface of a base material for forming the ejection orifice member a mixture of a first composite for imparting a hydrophobic characteristic to the surface and a second composite being able to exhibit a hydrophilic characteristic by being irradiated with light; imparting a hydrophobic characteristic to the entire or a part of the surface by utilizing the first composite; and then irradiating the second composite with light in a partial region of the surface for imparting a hydrophilic characteristic to the region irradiated with the light.

Liquid ejection head and process for producing the same

An ink jet head has a head substrate including discharge elements for discharging ink, with an electric wiring board being electrically connected to the head substrate, in which the periphery of the head substrate is sealed with a first sealant, and an electric splice between the head substrate and the electric wiring board is sealed with a second sealant. The first and second sealants contain the same base resin and curing agent, and the second sealant shows higher hardness than the first sealant after curing. This ink jet head is free from problems such as cavities and fissures at the boundary of the two sealants caused by a difference in linear expansion coefficients.

An ink jet ink reservoir having a part of its members formed of a polyolefin resin is provided which is free from printing defects caused by filter clogging attributable to a compound derived from an antioxidant. An ink jet ink reservoir used in an ink jet recording apparatus, wherein a part of constituent members of the ink jet ink reservoir is formed of a polyolefin resin, wherein the polyolefin resin contains as additive an antioxidant at least with a hindered phenol skeleton and a phosphorus antioxidant more hydrophobic than bis(2,6-di-t-butylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite (denoted by P-6). The members are free from a phosphorus antioxidant having hydrophobicity equal to or lower than the above P-6.

The present invention provides an anti-curl agent containing an amide compound of specific structure and molecular weight, an ink jet ink containing the amide compound, a method for ink jet recording to form images by ejecting the ink, and a method for reducing curl of recording media using the ink. The anti-curl agent of the present invention can reduce shape changes of a printed paper with a lapse of time, i.e., the curl phenomenon, tending to occur in particular with a plain paper printed over the entire surface, without deteriorating image quality.

An adsorbent for ink jet use arranged in a position to be in contact with ink, having the higher capability of adsorption with respect to hydrophobic substance contained in ink than colorant therein. Then, an ink retaining container comprises an ink retaining portion for retaining ink to be supplied to an ink jet head, an ink supply opening which becomes the ink supply portion from the ink retaining portion to the head, an atmospheric communication opening for communicating the ink retaining portion with the air outside. This ink retaining container is provided with the above-mentioned adsorption member arranged in a position to be in contact with ink in it. With the adsorbent and the ink retaining container thus arranged, it is made possible to perform ink jet recording with excellent print characteristics by effectively removing the hydrophobic substance eluted form the ink absorbent in the ink retaining container.

The invention relates to a process for producing a high-quality ink-jet recorded image. The process comprises the steps of (i) applying a first ink containing at least one colorant to an opaque printing medium by an ink-jet method to form a visible image; and (ii) applying a second ink, which does not change or substantially not change the hue of the printing medium, to a portion of the printing medium that is complementary to the visible image, thereby alleviating a difference in gloss between the visible image and the portion complementary to the visible image.
