A liquid ejecting apparatus includes a liquid ejecting head that has an ejection surface including a first nozzle row configured to eject a first ink and a second nozzle row configured to eject a second ink. The liquid ejecting head is configured to be held in an inclined posture in which the ejection surface is inclined with respect to a horizontal plane. The viscosity of the first ink is lower than the viscosity of the second ink, and in the inclined posture, the first nozzle row is positioned above the second nozzle row with respect to a gravity direction.

A liquid discharge apparatus includes a drive signal generation section configured to generate a plurality of drive pulses that is supplied to a pressure generation unit to change a pressure in liquid in a pressure chamber communicated with a nozzle. The plurality of drive pulses include: first and second discharge pulses to discharge liquid from the nozzle; and first and second micro-vibration pulses to not discharge liquid. The first discharge pulse and the first micro-vibration pulse are included in a first period included in a repetition cycle. The second discharge pulse and the second micro-vibration pulse are included in a second period included in the repetition cycle and later than the first period. The length from a start of the first period to the first micro-vibration pulse differs from the length from a start of the second period to the second micro-vibration pulse.

An ink jet recording apparatus includes a recording head having a plurality of nozzles through which an ink composition containing an inorganic pigment is ejected, a nozzle surface having nozzle orifices, and a liquid-repellent film disposed on the nozzle surface; an absorbing member that absorbs the ink composition containing the inorganic pigment from the nozzle orifices and the nozzle surface; and an actuating mechanism including a pressing member that presses the absorbing member, which contains an impregnation liquid, and the nozzle surface relative to each other. The actuating mechanism moves at least one of the absorbing member and the recording head relative to the other to perform a cleaning operation in which the ink composition is removed from the nozzle surface with the absorbing member.

An ink jet recording apparatus includes a recording head having a plurality of nozzles through which an ink composition containing an inorganic pigment is ejected, a nozzle surface having nozzle orifices, and a liquid-repellent film disposed on the nozzle surface; an absorbing member that absorbs the ink composition containing the inorganic pigment from the nozzle orifices and the nozzle surface; and an actuating mechanism including a pressing member that presses the absorbing member and the nozzle surface relative to each other. The actuating mechanism moves at least one of the absorbing member and the recording head relative to the other to perform a cleaning operation in which the ink composition is removed from the nozzle surface with the absorbing member. The absorbing member contains an impregnation liquid having a surface tension of 45 mN/m or less during the cleaning operation.

A printing apparatus includes a liquid ejecting section that is capable of ejecting a reactant liquid and an ink, and a control section that controls operation of the liquid ejecting section. The control section sets an ejection duty of the reactant liquid according to an ejection duty of the ink.

A CPU serving as a counting unit counts the cumulative number of times a driving pulse is applied to a piezoelectric vibrator. A driving signal generation unit is able to generate an aging driving pulse set by a driving parameter to the extent that ink is not ejected from a nozzle and performs an aging process of driving the piezoelectric vibrator using the aging driving pulse set by a driving parameter in accordance with a cumulative number of applications in a region outside an ejection region on a recording medium.
