A flangeis provided on a plate by bending the plate, the flange being substantially orthogonal to the plate, and a recessed portion, where the flange is missing, is provided between two flanges. A flangeis provided by bending another plate, and a raised portion is provided which protrudes from a parallel sideto flangeat an end portion of flange. An end portion of flangeand end portion of flangeare abutted, and end portion of plateis abutted to an outer side of the circular arc portion of flangefrom the plate. The raised portion is abutted to the recessed portion, and respective abutted portions are welded. Where two plates in which a flange is provided by bending the plate are intended to be welded, the occurrence of a space in a welding portion can be prevented.

Method of manufacture of structural body and structural body

A hollow frame member is constituted by two face plates 11, 12 (21, 22) joined in a truss shape by ribs. End portions of one of the face plates are positioned in the vicinity of an apex of the truss structure of the hollow frame member. End portions of the other of the face plates have a projection extending toward the end portions of the face plates. The face plates are joined by friction stir welding. Due to the presence of the ribs, the load during the friction stir welding time is easily supported.

Since the truss structure is formed totally, a light weight structure with a high rigidity performance can be obtained.
