A centrifugal compressor comprises: an impeller; an inlet pipe portion forming an intake passage to introduce air to the impeller; and a throttle mechanism capable of reducing a flow passage area of the intake passage upstream of the impeller. The throttle mechanism includes an annular portion configured to move between a first position and a second position upstream of the first position in an axial direction of the impeller. In a cross-section along a rotational axis of the impeller, an outer peripheral surface of the annular portion is formed to smoothly connect a leading edge and a trailing edge of the annular portion.

Centrifugal compressor and turbocharger

A variable geometry turbocharger includes: a turbine rotor; and a variable nozzle mechanism for adjusting a flow of exhaust gas to the turbine rotor from a scroll flow passage formed on a radially outer side of the turbine rotor. The variable nozzle mechanism includes: a nozzle vane disposed in an exhaust gas flow passage for guiding the exhaust gas to the turbine rotor from the scroll flow passage; a support wall forming a flow passage wall on a first side of the exhaust gas flow passage with respect to an axial direction of the turbine rotor and supporting the nozzle vane rotatably in a cantilever fashion; and a non-support wall forming a flow passage wall on a second side of the exhaust gas flow passage with respect to the axial direction. Of an end surface of the nozzle vane on a side of the non-support wall, an edge portion on a side of a pressure surface includes a non-support-wall side linear portion formed to have a linear shape.

An object is to is to reduce a leakage flow by reducing a clearance between an end surface of a nozzle vane, forming a variable nozzle mechanism of a variable geometry turbocharger, and a wall surface facing the end surface, and prevent the nozzle vane from being stuck due to contact of the end surface. A valve, which is provided in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine to release exhaust, includes a valve seat having an opening opened to the exhaust passage, a valve body having a conical surface or a spherical surface configured to close the opening by coming into contact with the valve seat, a movement unit configured to move the valve body in a direction of intersecting the opening, and an urging unit configured to urge the valve body in the direction of intersecting the opening, and the urging unit controls urging force by the movement unit in a direction of suppressing vibration of the valve body caused by vibration of exhaust pulse frequency determined by a speed of the internal combustion engine and a number of cylinders of the internal combustion engine.

Valve

A turbocharger comprises: a rolling bearing provided with a plurality of rolling elements arranged between a raceway formed on an inner ring and a raceway formed on an outer ring; and a housing for holding the outer ring. The housing is provided with: a first dam for restricting the outflow of a lubricant through a first discharge passage for discharging the lubricant from the outer ring; and a second dam for restricting the outflow of the lubricant through a second discharge passage for discharging the lubricant from an opening formed so as to be in communication with an axially intermediate portion of the outer ring and with a peripheral wall of a space.

Turbocharger

In a variable geometry turbocharger including a variable nozzle mechanism, an object is to enhance safety upon malfunction of the variable nozzle mechanism as well as to improve accuracy in the control of the variable nozzle mechanism by applying a moment that acts on the nozzle vanes in an opening direction securely and stably. A variable geometry turbocharger includes a plurality of nozzle vanesdisposed at predetermined intervals around a rotational shaft center of a turbine wheelso as to surround an outer circumferential side of the turbine wheeland a variable nozzle mechanism configured capable of changing a blade angle of each of the nozzle vanes, each of the nozzle vaneshaving a blade cross-section orthogonal to a nozzle shaftof each nozzle vane, the blade cross-section having: a concave portioncurved into a concave shape on at least a part of a pressure surfaceside, the part being disposed at a trailing edgeside with respect to the rotational center C; and a convex portion at a leading edgeside with respect to the rotational center C, so that a surface shape of the pressure surfaceside is a substantially S-shape having the concave portion and the convex portion across a boundary at a same longitudinal position as the rotational center.

An exhaust-bypass valve capable of reducing wear of a rotating shaft to prevent controllability from deteriorating is provided. An exhaust-bypass valve () of a turbocharger includes a shunting passage () that communicates between a passage () at the turbine-inlet side and a passage () at the turbine-outlet side and a valve flap () that opens and closes this shunting passage (). The valve flap () opens and closes to shunt a gas flowing through the passage () at the turbine-inlet side into the passage at the turbine-outlet side. The valve flap () is rotatably supported at one side thereof serving as a center-of-rotation side, and the other side thereof moves away from or towards the shunting passage () to open or close the shunting passage (). A tapered portion () is provided at an edge on the other side. Exhaust-bypass valve of turbocharger

A variable geometry exhaust turbocharger, wherein bolts which fasten a variable nozzle mechanism do not loosen. A variable geometry exhaust turbocharger, is provided with a turbine housing a turbine rotor, a turbine shaft a bearing for supporting the turbine shaft, a bearing housing, and a variable nozzle mechanism for regulating the flow of exhaust gas. The variable nozzle mechanism is provided with a nozzle, a nozzle mount, a lever plate, and a drive ring. A nozzle plate with which the tip of the nozzle makes contact is provided to an inner tube section of the turbine housing. A sleeve member is provided between the nozzle mount and the nozzle plate so as to be coaxial with a through-hole and a screw-through hole. The nozzle mount and the nozzle plate are connected together by fastening bolts passed through the through-hole, the sleeve member, and the screw through-hole, in that order.

Variable geometry exhaust turbocharger

Provided is an exhaust turbine equipped with an exhaust control valve which can reduce wear of the contact surfaces between the shaft and the bushing or the turbine casing. The exhaust turbine is equipped with the exhaust control valve for opening/closing an exhaust bypass passage leading the exhaust turbine being driven by exhaust gas output from an engine to an exhaust outlet passage while bypassing the exhaust turbine, wherein the exhaust control valve comprises a shaft which is supported rotation-freely by a turbine casing and supports a valve element, an arm equipped with a connecting part with a drive source and turning the shaft about the axis thereof by the reciprocating motion of the connecting part produced by the drive source, and a weight attached to an end on the side opposite to the connecting part with the drive source with respect to the axis of the shaft.

Exhaust turbine equipped with exhaust control valve

The present invention provides a compressor housing capable of reducing the weight of a compressor without leading to an increase in the size and a reduction in the efficiency of the compressor. The compressor housing includes: an inner cylinder made of a plastic material and extending in an axial direction and in a circumferential direction to surround blade tips of the blades; and an outer cylinder made of a plastic material and extending in the axial direction and in the circumferential direction to surround the inner cylinder. The inner cylinder and the outer cylinder are bonded or jointed at the first end, opposite the second end where the volute is formed.
