A housing unit includes a terminal fitting and a housing in which the terminal fitting is inserted into an accommodating chamber in a predetermined insertion direction and accommodated therein. The terminal fitting has a first terminal portion in which a plurality of first tab portions extend, a second terminal portion in which a plurality of second tab portions extend, a connecting portion connecting the first and second terminal portions, and a contact portion connected to a first tab coupling portion and to be connected to an external terminal, and is formed of a continuous conductor plate. The terminal fitting includes a heat sink portion extending from at least one of the connecting portion and a second tab coupling portion in a direction opposite to the insertion direction. At least a part of the heat sink portion is exposed to an outside of the housing.

A connector includes a terminal fitting having a terminal portion in which a plurality of tab portions extends and a contact portion, a housing having a plurality of accommodating chambers in which the tab portions are accommodated, and a plurality of terminal-attached electric wires. The terminal fitting includes a first locking portion provided on the tab portions located from one end of the tab continuous portion to an intermediate position thereof, and a second locking portion provided on the tab portions located from the intermediate position to another end thereof. The first locking portion has a relatively large holding force for holding the tab portion in the accommodation chamber compared to the second locking portion. The counterpart terminal includes a tubular box portion and an opening provided on a side wall of the box portion and having a width through which the tab portion is able to pass.

A terminal fitting comprising: a first terminal portion in which first tab portions, extending from a first tab continuous connecting portion, are arranged; a second terminal portion in which second tab portions, extending from a second tab continuous connecting portion, are arranged; a connecting portion connecting the first and second terminal portions; and a contact portion to be connected to an external terminal. The terminal fitting has a three-dimensional shape in which the terminal fitting having a preliminary shape is bent at the connecting portion. In the three-dimensional shape, the first terminal portion and the second terminal portion are three-dimensionally arranged to be connected at the connecting portion. In the preliminary shape, the first terminal portion and the second terminal portion are arranged to be fitted to each other, and the first tab continuous connecting portion and the second tab continuous connecting portion are connected at the connecting portion.

Terminal fitting, connector and method for manufacturing terminal fitting

A housing includes a terminal accommodating chamber and a lance. The lance includes a locking portion configured to lock the abutting edge of the terminal, a clearance portion, and a boundary portion between the locking portion and the escape portion. The locking portion is provided on one side of the boundary portion toward which the lance deflects in the first direction, and the clearance portion being provided on another side of the boundary portion toward which the lance returns in the second direction. An edge of the locking portion on a side opposite to the boundary portion and an edge of the clearance portion on a side opposite to the boundary portion are disposed away from the boundary portion toward the rear side of the housing from which the terminal is inserted.

The connector includes male terminals and a connector housing that is molded using a metal mold. The metal mold includes a cavity for the connector housing and terminal positioning parts which position the male terminals and each of which includes clearance parts that form openings with contact places in the male terminal with a female terminal at the time of insertion or drawing out of the male terminal. The male terminals are positioned in the metal mold by inserting the counterpart-terminal connecting parts into the terminal positioning parts, and resin is filled in the cavity with the male terminals as insert components, and thereafter, the counterpart-terminal connecting parts are drawn out from the terminal positioning parts, and the connector as a molded item is separated from within the metal mold.
