A color correction circuit is best adjusted to consistently obtain a stable, color printing by compensating for a change in the characteristic of a printer under the influence of ambient temperature and humidity. Before the printing of pictorial data, e.g., an image, (reference data produced by a reference data generator), is entered into a printer engine by which it is printed out on a sheet of a paper. This printed data is read in by a color sensor, which in turn produces an output detection signal. A feedback control circuit produces a control signal necessary for a color correction according to the output signal of the color sensor and then sends it to the color correction circuit. The color correction circuit is adjusted and corrects the colors of the pictorial data to be printed. The corrected data is printed out. Repeating this process for each color printing can prevent a variation in the printed colors due to the effect of ambient temperature.

An apparatus for producing a railroad symbol and a road symbol, includes a CPU, a coordinates input device, an external storage device and a display. The CPU has an operation unit for performing a drawing operation, an interface circuit and a memory for storing data and a program. The railroad symbol is produced by continuous drawing of figure parts. The road symbol is produced by overlapping curved line drawn with a circle in a color and curved line drawn with smaller circle in another color.

An image synthesizing apparatus includes a first storage unit for storing first image data, a second storage unit for storing second image data, a third storage unit for storing data of a synthesizing ratio of the first image data to the second image data, a selective unit for selectively outputting at least the lower bits of the first and second image data based on the synthesizing ratio, and a synthesizing unit for synthesizing the image data selected by the selective unit and outputting the synthesized image data. The selective unit is connected to the first, second and third storage unit, and the synthesizing unit is connected to the selective unit.

Apparatus and method for image extraction with threshold adjustment

In a method for displaying an image, the image is divided into a first image area which includes characters, the border of which is overlapping a part of a color background, and a second image area which includes the other part of the background. The method includes the steps of setting data of pixels of the image using n bits in a multi-purpose area of an image memory, in a manner that, in setting data of pixels in the first image area, some of the n bits are used for color information of the background present at the border of the characters and the others are used for data of the characters. Further, in setting data for pixels in the second image area, all of the n bits are used for color information of the background, except that of the part underlying the border of the characters. The method further includes the steps of setting a flag in another area of the image memory, the flag indicating to which of the first and second image area each of the pixels of the image belongs; synthesizing color information of the background and that of the characters based on the image data and the flag stored in the image memory so that colors of the characters at the border thereof are mixed with colors of the background so as to have neutral tints; and displaying the image, obtained through the synthesis, on a display unit.

Method for displaying an image including characters and a background

An image synthesizer of an image editing apparatus not only stores image data of two or more source images and includes a display device for displaying an image according to received image data, but also is provided with an address generator which, controlled by a data processor, transmits address signals sequentially to have a synthesized image of these source images displayed such that the individual source images appear superposed and transparent to each other. Each pixel of the display device displays only one of the source images and area densities of pixels displaying each of the source images very over the two-dimensional screen of the display device. When one of the source images is superposed on top of another, a pattern is stored in a pattern memory such that pixels displaying one of the images are scattered into the area of the other image according to the pattern such that the boundary between source images can be made controllably less conspicuous.
