A method of winding and mounting superconductive coils on a cylindrical surface of the coil-carrying shaft of a rotor of a rotary electric machine. A superconductive wire is wound around the circumferential surface of a rectangular bobbin, thereby forming coils. The four straight portions of the circumferential surface are connected with each other by circularly curved surface portions. The portions of the circumferential surfaces corresponding to the axial direction of the coil-carrying shaft have a plurality of steps formed in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the coil-carrying shaft. A detachable side plate on the bobbin is then taken off, and the coil is removed from the bobbin. The coils thus formed are mounted on the surface of the coil-carrying shaft, in which a plurality of axially running grooves and a pair of annular recesses running in the circumferential direction of the coil-carrying shaft and connecting the ends of the grooves, the grooves and recesses being pre-formed corresponding to the coils for receiving them therein. A pair of sleeves are fitted over the recesses, thereby securely holding the end portions of the coils in the recesses.

Method of mounting coils on the rotor of a superconductive rotary

The present invention consists in that insulating fillers on the sides of superconductive field coils disposed on a coil-carrying shaft in the rotor of a superconductive rotary electric machine are separated into padding plates mounted so as to cover all the sides of the superconductive field coils, and the other portions, thereby to prevent the damage of the insulation between the turns of the field coils and to firmly fix the field coils.

A rotor of a superconductive rotary electric machine is disclosed in which fillers are inserted between the superconductive magnetic field coils and a plurality of padding plates which cover the entire side face of the superconductive field coils so that all the turns of the superconductive magnetic field coils are firmly secured. The rotor therefore can be stably operated.

The rotor of a superconductive rotary electric machine has a coil-carrying shaft carrying superconductive field coils. A plurality of axially running parallel grooves and a pair of annular circumferentially running indentations, each of which is connected to one end of each of the grooves, are formed on the outer surface of the coil-carrying shaft. The axially and circumferentially running portions of the field coils are accommodated in the grooves and indentations respectively, and the spaces left by the circumferentially running portions of the field coils in the indentations are filled by electrically insulating fillers. Further, a plurality of wedges are fitted into the grooves above the axially running portions of the field coils, while a pair of sleeves are fitted around the coil-carrying shaft over the indentations, each of the sleeves being fitted around the coil-carrying shaft only at one end thereof which is situated farther from the central portion of the coil-carrying shaft than the other end thereof. Rings for preventing the slippage of the sleeves are interposed between the portions of the surfaces of the sleeves and the coil-carrying shaft which are fitted together.

A shaft sealing device stable in sealing effect and which causes no seal breakdown is provided by changing the groove depth of a thread cut in a rotary shaft in the axial direction in such a manner that the groove depth of the thread on the high liquid pressure side is larger than that on the low liquid pressure side. In one embodiment, the groove depth on the high pressure side is larger than on the low pressure side of the thread with the groove depth varying continuously from the high pressure side to the low pressure side. In another embodiment, the groove depth is constant in a portion of the shaft on the low pressure side and decreases towards the low pressure in a portion of the shaft on the high pressure side.

Shaft sealing device utilizing a non-uniform groove depth

A cooling liquid conducting out device having an outlet chamber which is partially filled with cooling liquid drained from the rotor of a rotary electric machine constructed such that the strength of collision of the cooling liquid with the inner walls of the outlet chamber is made small to prevent cavitation in the discharging section of a cooling liquid supplying and draining pipe. According to another aspect of the invention, the device is provided with a cooling liquid containing member which is disposed surrounding the discharging section of the supplying and draining pipe, which is maintained filled with the cooling liquid discharged through the discharging section, and which has discharging paths communicating with the outlet chamber. In addition to the discharging paths, conducting out passages for conducting the cooling liquid out of the containing member are provided to cause the cooling liquid thus passing through the conducting out paths to collide with the cooling liquid discharged through the discharging paths. Limiting members suchs are thread seals are provided in the discharging paths to reduce the amount of cooling liquid passing through the discharging paths.

A device for conducting cooling liquid in and out of liquid cooled rotor type machine such as an electric turbine generator. A discharging ring having small holes formed therein is disposed so as to cover an open end of an outflow pipe for cooling liquid from the rotor shaft. A first outlet chamber surrounds the open end of the outflow pipe to receive cooling liquid discharged through the discharging ring. A second outlet chamber having one end side integral with the first outlet chamber receives cooling liquid discharged through a seal between the first outlet chamber and the outflow pipe. Shielding gas is supplied into the first outlet chamber to maintain the pressure therein higher than atmospheric pressure. The first outlet chamber is only partially filled with cooling liquid.

Device for conducting cooling liquid in and out of liquid cooled rotor

A device for conducting cooling liquid out of a liquid cooled rotor type rotary electric machine in which a sealing means is provided for preventing the leakage of cooling liquid from an outlet chamber adapted to receive the cooling liquid discharged from the rotary electric machine. The sealing means employs a thread seal and a rubber seal in combination. The rubber seal is provided in such a manner as to surround a cooling liquid supplying and draining pipe and so that it is expanded or contracted according to the pressure of gas introduced inside the rubber seal to adjust the gap between the rubber seal and the pipe. The pressure of gas is controlled according to the speed of rotation of the rotor shaft or the amount of liquid leakage.
