A cartridge includes a drum unit and a development unit. The drum unit includes a photosensitive drum, a frame, a transfer roller, and a cleaning member. The development unit includes a development roller, and a memory. The cleaning member is configured to come into contact with the photosensitive drum at a region between a development nip portion and a transfer nip portion in a circumferential direction of the photosensitive drum and at an end portion of the photosensitive drum in a direction of the rotational axis. The frame has an exposing hole through which the memory is exposed from the frame, and a recessed portion that is adjacent to the exposing hole in the direction of the rotational axis, and stores foreign matters removed from the photosensitive drum by the cleaning member.

Cartridge and image forming apparatus

A process cartridge includes a first unit including an image bearing member configured to carry an electrostatic latent image, and a second unit including a developer bearing member configured to develop the electrostatic latent image carried on the image bearing member into a toner image, the second unit being capable of being mounted on the first unit in a mounting direction. The first unit includes a moving member that moves the second unit mounted on the first unit at a mounting position to a detachment position. The second unit includes a storage unit that stores information about the second unit. The moving member is disposed on a first side of the process cartridge in a longitudinal direction of the image bearing member. An electrode of the storage unit is disposed on a second side of the process cartridge in the longitudinal direction.

A cleaning member includes a blade portion contacted to a member-to-be-cleaned with respect to a direction counter to a movement direction of the member-to-be-cleaned, and a flexible supporting member. The supporting member includes one end portion where the blade portion is provided, another end portion including a portion-to-be-fixed for being fixed at the fixing portion, and a bent portion between the one end portion and the other end portion in a side remote from a surface of the member-to-be-cleaned toward an outside with respect to a line connecting the portion-to-be-fixed and a contact portion where the blade portion is contacted to the member-to-be-cleaned. The portion-to-be-fixed is provided downstream of the contact portion with respect to the movement direction of the member-to-be-cleaned. The blade portion is supported by the supporting member in contact to only the one end portion.

An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member; a plurality of developing cartridges including respective toner accommodating portions for accommodating toners for forming an image on the image bearing member; a discriminating portion for discriminating color of the toner accommodated in each of the plurality of developing cartridges; a controller capable of controlling an image forming operation in a state in which the developing cartridges, of the plurality of developing cartridges, accommodating the toners of the same color are mounted; and a storing portion for storing lifetime information of the plurality of developing cartridges, respectively. When the developing cartridges accommodating the toners of the same color are mounted, the controller determines the developing cartridge, of the developing cartridges accommodating the toners of the same color, to be used for performing the image forming operation, on the basis of the lifetime information.

An image forming apparatus has: a photosensitive drum onto which images are formed; and a primary transfer roller which sequentially forms the color images onto the photosensitive drum by using a plurality of developing devices having different color developers and transfers the color images formed on the drum onto a transfer member or a recording medium. Order of forming the images onto an image bearing member on a photosensitive member is switched based on a use amount of each of the plurality of developing devices.

The apparatus includes a developer carrying member whose outer diameter is in the range of 8 mm to 12 mm, and a magnetic mono-component developerhaving a saturation magnetization of in a range of 20 Am/kg to 37 Am/kg when the magnetic field of 79.6 kA/m (1000 oersteds) is applied, the magnetization of not less than 70% and not more than 80% of the saturation magnetization when the magnetic field is lowered to 55.7 kA/m (700 oersteds), and the magnetization of not less than 50% and not more than 62% of the saturation magnetization when the magnetic field is lowered to 39.8 kA/m (500 oersteds).

An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum, a charge roller for charging the photosensitive drum, a developing device for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on the charged photosensitive drum with a developer, a first auxiliary charging brush which is located upstream from the charge roller in a movement direction of a surface of the photosensitive drum and applies a voltage of a polarity opposite to a normal polarity of a polarity opposite to a normal polarity of the developer, and a second auxiliary charging brush which is located downstream from the first auxiliary charging brush and upstream from the charge roller and applies a voltage of a polarity identical to the normal polarity of the developer. In the image forming apparatus, the first auxiliary charging brush is supplied with an AC voltage to be improved in recovery performance of a transfer residual developer, and contamination of charging means can be prevented.
