A cord of a toothed belt is made of a twisted yarn including a band-like material. The band-like material includes a filament bundle of high-strength glass fibers integrated together through a binder. The binder contains a rubber component, at least either a maleimide-based compound or a polyisocyanate compound, and a powdery inorganic filler. A surface of a reinforcing fabric facing opposite to the toothed belt body is coated with a surface-coating rubber layer made of a rubber composition containing a rubber component including hydrogenated nitrile-butadiene rubber as a main part.

Toothed belt

Disclosed is a belt tooth portion of a toothed belt incorporated in a toothed belt power transmission apparatus for use in equipment for business use. The belt tooth portion comprises tooth root portions formed of circularly arcuate surfaces which are arranged symmetrically with each other in respect to a centerline C in the tooth width direction, power transmission portions formed of circularly arcuate surfaces of convex profile which contiguously adjoin the tooth root portions and are arranged symmetrically with each other in respect to the tooth width direction centerline C , tooth tip portions formed of circularly arcuate surfaces which contiguously adjoin the power transmission portions and are arranged symmetrically with each other in respect to the tooth width direction centerline C , and a tooth crest surface formed of an approximately flat surface which interconnects the tooth tip portions The maximum pressure angle &thgr;B at a connection point of the power transmission portion and the tooth root portion is set at from 15 degrees to 25 degrees. As a result of such arrangement, the nonuniformity of velocity of the toothed belt is reduced as low as possible, thereby providing improvement in the printing accuracy and image quality of equipment for business use.

Toothed belt, toothed belt power transmission apparatus, and business equipment employing the same

The tension member for a belt of this invention is made from a glass cord. First twist yarns of this glass cord are obtained by paralleling and twisting a plurality of fiber bundles, each including a large number of glass filaments, by a predetermined first twist number. The fiber bundles are previously soaked with a treatment liquid including a mixture of rubber latex and an initial condensation product of resorcinol and formalin as a main component and then heated. The glass cord is fabricated by paralleling a predetermined number of the first twist yarns and twisting them by a predetermined final twist number, so as to squeeze and substantially eliminating spaces among the first twist yarns. Accordingly, the belt including this glass cord as the tension member can achieve good water resistance because externally intruding water is prevented from being held within the belt.

In a belt transmission apparatus utilized between an engine of a motorcar and an auxiliary apparatus thereof, a pulley groove angle .theta. of V-belt pulleys is set in the range of 45.degree. to 60.degree., where slip of the belt easily occurs. A belt angle .alpha. between both sidefaces of the V-belt is set in the range determined by the inequality .theta.-7.ltoreq..alpha..ltoreq..theta. with respect to the pulley groove angle .theta..

Belt transmission device for motorcar engines and auxiliary devices

A V-ribbed belt having a plurality of ribs on a belt base along the lengthwise direction of belt and a method of manufacturing such V-ribbed belt. The belt according to the present invention is used for driving of driers, auxiliary machines for motor cars, washing machines, etc. ribs of the belt are formed solely of rubber and are provided with a surface layer comprising a non-woven fabric at the outer surface thereof. The thickness and the weight per unit area of the non-woven fabric are in the range of between 0.01 and 0.3 mm and between 3 and 100 g/m.sup.2 respectively. The non-woven fabric can contain a coefficient of friction reducing agent, where necessary.
