A reflection-type display apparatus includes: scan electrodes and signal electrodes that are provided in matrix form; a setting circuit configured to set at least one of scan electrodes as one of a reset line, a writing line and a non select line, the reset line and the writing line being in a selected state, the non select line being in an unselected state; a supply circuit configured to supply image data to at least one of signal electrodes while shifting the reset line, the non select line or the writing line; an extraction circuit configured to extract a writing line corresponding to a pixel which is not changed to a certain display state based on the image data; and a control circuit to set a first scan speed to the extracted writing line, the first scan speed being different from a second scan speed set to an un-extracted writing line.

Reflection-type display apparatus

A liquid crystal layer sandwiched by a lower substrateand an upper substrate comprises cross-shaped supports, a wall surface structure, and a seal member. The supportsare provided at the four sides of each pixel. Contiguous pixels are linked via openings between supports. The wall surface structure is provided in the periphery of the supports arranged in the form of a grid. The supports and the wall surface structure are a same member having adhesiveness. A portion of the wall surface structure is an inlet of liquid crystal. A seal member is provided at the perimeter of the wall surface structure. The liquid crystal poured from the inlet is poured into all of pixels via openings. A black matrix in the form of a grid, which covers the top side of all of the supports, is provided on the upper substrate.

The voltage setting unit derives a voltage at which a previous drive line becomes a focal conic state regardless of image data by applying a synthesized voltage of a voltage that is applied from the segment driver and a voltage that is applied from the common driver to the previous drive line. Then, the voltage setting unit sets the voltages that are applied from the segment driver and the common driver on the basis of the derived result.
