A trunks-type garment has crotch region formed by two sheets that are superposed and bonded together. Extensions of these two sheets extending from a bottom of the crotch region of the garment are folded back onto the respective sheets of form lapels.

Pants that comprise a pair of intermediate body sheets, positioned in plane symmetry to each other and respectively contoured by upper, lower, inner and outer edges, and a pair of lateral body sheets also positioned outside the respective intermediate body sheets and respectively contoured also by upper, lower, inner and outer edges. Each of the intermediate body sheets is formed between the inner and outer edges with an arcuate cutout extending convexly from the upper edge, toward the lower edge the intermediate body sheets being put flat and sealed together along a sealing line defined by the cutouts but leaving a narrow marginal edge free. The intermediate body sheets and the lateral body sheets are placed flat and sealed together along sealing lines defined by inner and outer edges thereof, leaving narrow marginal regions free outside the inner and outer edges.

A sanitary napkin is provided with flaps including wings formed on laterally opposite sides thereof. Top surfaces of the flaps are formed by liquid barrier sheets of which the inner areas form together with the topsheet pockets therebetween to receive menstrual fluid. The pockets are opened as the wings are folded onto the outer sides of a crotch zone of user's underpants to fix the napkin thereto.

To control a flow of body fluid generally occurring on the liquid-permeable topsheet for body fluid absorbent article in a predetermined direction, here is disclosed an improved liquid-permeable topsheet made of thermoplastic synthetic resin comprising a plurality of first direction ribs and a plurality of second direction ribs crossing the first direction ribs so as to a unique rib structure. Tops 7 of the second direction ribs 3 are connected with opposite sides 6 of the respective first direction ribs 2 and each pair of adjacent first direction ribs 2 define a groove 10 serving to guide the body fluid in the predetermined direction.
