The burden on the user of adjusting a sound outputted from a speaker is to be reduced. A speaker position detection system includes a first speaker unit having at least one speaker, and a second speaker unit having a speaker and a plurality of microphones. Alternatively, a speaker position detection system includes a first speaker unit having a plurality of speakers, and a second speaker unit having a speaker and a microphone. The speaker position detection system calculates position information representing a position of one of the first speaker unit and the second speaker unit, based on a test sound outputted from one of the speakers and detected by one of the microphones.

Provided is a speaker device, which includes speaker units having different diameters and sound emission directions, and which is capable of suppressing variations in sound quality at a listening position, which are caused by changing an orientation in which the speaker device is installed. A speaker device has first and second speaker units, which have different diameters and sound emission directions, mounted thereto. A controller is configured to control, depending on the orientation in which the device is installed, an equalizer correction unit to correct frequency characteristics of acoustic signals input to the first and second speaker units so that sound quality is not varied at the listening position depending on the difference in diameter and sound emission direction.

In a virtual sound source localization apparatus, a distance between two loudspeakers and a shortest distance between a line connecting the loudspeakers and a listening position are set beforehand, and a listener operates an operating section to localize a Cch sound source at an approximately center of the loudspeakers, thereby adjusting a sound balance of the loudspeakers. In addition, a controller calculates a difference in distance from the loudspeakers to the listening position, sets a delay amount of delay correctors such that sound emitted from the loudspeakers substantially reaches the listening position simultaneously, and adjusts sound output timing of the loudspeakers. In this way, even though the listening position is changed, the listener can operate the operating section to optimize a virtual surround effect.
