The present invention relates to a phosphor plate including a sintered body including (Y, Gd, Ce)AlOparticles and AlOparticles, in which 0.07&#x2264;x&#x2264;0.11 and 0.010&#x2264;y&#x2264;0.015 are satisfied, the (Y, Gd, Ce)AlOparticles in the sintered body has an average particle diameter of 4 &#x3bc;m or more and 6 &#x3bc;m or less, the (Y, Gd, Ce)AlOparticles has a concentration of 20 vol % or more and 30 vol % or less with respect to a total amount 100 vol % of the (Y, Gd, Ce)AlOparticles and the AlOparticles, a ratio of an average particle diameter of the AlOparticles to the average particle diameter of the (Y, Gd, Ce)AlOparticles is 1 or more and 2 or less, and the sintered body has a total thickness of 150 &#x3bc;m or more and 250 &#x3bc;m or less.

Phosphor plate

A ceramic composite contains inorganic materials and includes a phosphor phase including YAG containing Ce, and a scatterer phase including a translucent ceramic, in which the phosphor phase is contained in an amount of 90 vol % or more and 99 vol % or less, and the scatterer phase is contained in an amount of 1 vol % or more and 10 vol % or less.

Provided is a wavelength converting member made of a sintered body which inhibits color unevenness of exit light after wavelength conversion and has excellent light emitting efficiency and inhibited decrease in mechanical strength. The wavelength converting member includes a plate-like sintered body having one principal surface as a light entrance surface and the other principal surface as a light exit surface, and a porosity of 0.1% or less with fluorescent material grains containing an activator and light-transmitting material grains, the entrance surface and the exit surface are sintered surfaces in which the fluorescent material grains and light-transmitting material grains are exposed without processing. The sintered surface has an average roughness Ra of 0.1 &#x3bc;m to 0.5 &#x3bc;m, the fluorescent material grains exposed on a surface have an average roughness Raof 0.2 nm to 0.5 nm, and the light-transmitting material grains exposed on a surface have an average roughness Raof 0.3 nm to 0.7 nm.

Wavelength converting member

The present invention relates to a ceramics composite including: a matrix phase including AlOor a substance in which one selected from ScOand GaOis incorporated into AlO; a main phosphor phase formed in the matrix phase and including a substance represented by a general formula ABO:Ce in which A is at least one selected from Y, Gd, Tb, Yb and Lu and B is at least one selected from Al, Ga and Sc; and a CeAlOphase mixed in the matrix phase and the main phosphor phase.

Ceramics composite

The present invention relates to a ceramics composite including an inorganic material which includes: a matrix phase including a translucent ceramics; and a phosphor phase including YAG containing Ce, in which a content of the phosphor phase is from 22% by volume to 55% by volume based on the whole phase including the matrix phase and the phosphor phase, a content of Ce in the YAG is 0.005 to 0.05 in terms of an atomic ratio of Ce to Y (Ce/Y), and the ceramics composite has a thickness in a light outgoing direction of 30 &#x3bc;m to 200 &#x3bc;m.

The invention intends to obtain a transparent yttrium oxide sintered body of which in-line transmittance in a visible wavelength region of 400 to 800 nm at a thickness of 1 mm is 60% or more, without using aluminum that readily segregates in grain boundaries of yttrium oxide, without using special raw materials in which a silicon content is particularly reduced and without finely pulverizing raw materials. A transparent yttrium oxide sintered body that contains, with yttrium oxide as a main component, at least either one of tantalum or niobium or both thereof and has the in-line transmittance of 60% or more at a thickness of 1 mm in a visible wavelength region in the range of 400 to 800 nm.
