Described here are transition metal-catalyzed enantioselective arylation and vinylation reactions of &#x3b1;-substituted lactams, such as &#x3b3;-lactams. The use of various electrophiles and ligands are described, and result in the construction of &#x3b1;-quaternary centers in good yields (up to 91% yield) and high enantioselectivities (up to 97% ee).

The developer amount detecting sensor detects an amount of developer that falls from the second conveyance chamber to the vicinity of a toner replenishing port in the first conveyance chamber. The controller controls the driving of the toner replenishing device or the driving of the development driving device based on a result of detection performed by the developer amount detecting sensor, and thereby keeps a replenished-toner concentration in the developer substantially constant in the vicinity of the toner replenishing port.

An operating system is formed in which an engagement shaft supported on an end portion of a brake piston is inserted through an engagement hole portion of a balance member; an operation wire is connected to the balance member via a coupling pin; and brake operating arms of rear wheel brake mechanisms are operated by a pair of arm portions of the balance member. A broad area is formed in the engagement hole portion in a manner allowing the balance member to swing about the coupling pin when the operation wire is pulled.

The developing device includes a duct configured to guide the airflow to the suction device. The duct includes a connection surface, to which the suction device is connected, and a suction surface provided with suction ports into which the toner flows. The suction ports aligned in a direction apart from the connection surface include different suction ports in ventilation area.
