A traction control system for an automotive vehicle performs traction control by controlling an engine having an exhaust system with a catalytic converter and a brake system to reduce driving force delivered to driving wheels, so as to diminish excessive slippage of the driving wheels. The traction control system includes a controller for changing an engine control mode from an ordinary control mode to an exhaust temperature reduction mode when a temperature of the catalytic converter is higher than a predetermined temperature and changing a control parameter of engine control, so that the engine provides an increase in output torque in the exhaust temperature reduction mode.

Traction control system for vehicles

A supercharging pressure control device for an engine having a supercharger, which is driven by the engine and disposed in an intake passage downstream of an engine throttle valve, includes a bypass passage. The bypass passage connects a part of the intake passage, upstream from the supercharger and downstream from the engine throttle valve, and a part of the intake passage downstream from the supercharger. A bypass valve is disposed in the bypass passage. The bypass valve is controlled so as to allow intake air to bypass the supercharger at a controlled flow rate.

Supercharged pressure control device for supercharged engine

A fuel control system causes a fuel injector to interrupt fuel injection during a continuous decrease in engine speed to a lower limit of a hysteresis range for fuel supply/fuel interruption and to resume the interruption of fuel supply after a continuous increase in engine speed beyond an upper limit of the hysteresis range and further causes a compulsory interruption of fuel supply when a transition of the engine from non-deceleration to deceleration while the engine operates at speeds between the lower and upper limits of the hysteresis range.

Fuel control system for engine

For an internal combustion engine with a supercharger, a slip of the driven wheel is controlled by reducing torque of the engine, when the extent of the slip becomes large in relation to a road surface. When the running status of the engine exists in a non-supercharging region, the slip is controlled by at least one of operations for reducing the amount of fuel to be supplied to the engine and for retarding the timing of ignition (first slip control). On the other hand, in a supercharging region, the slip is controlled by lowering the pressure to be supercharged (second slip control). In a transient period of time when the running status of the engine is caused to shift from the non-supercharging region to the supercharging region when the first slip control is being conducted in the non-supercharging region, the first slip control is allowed to be continued until the slip is caused to be converged, in place of the second slip control.

Engine control system

In a fuel control system of an engine having an air conditioner driven by the engine, fuel supply is cut during deceleration of the engine when the engine speed is higher than a first preset value with the air conditioner on and when the engine speed is higher than a second preset value with the air conditioner off, the first preset value being higher than the second preset value. When the air conditioner is turned off during the deceleration of the engine, fuel supply is cut when the engine speed is higher than the first preset value, and when the air conditioner is turned on during the deceleration of the engine, fuel supply is cut when the engine speed is higher than the second preset value.

A control system for a vehicle, including an automatic transmission provided with a multiple transmission gear mechanism, automatically establishes a specific gear stage of a speed ratio from among a plurality of gear stages in accordance with an vehicle operatiing condition. A shift control signal producing device produces a shift control signal in order to produce a shift operation between different gear stages in accordance with the vehicle operating condition. An engine output control device reduces an engine output in synchronism with the shift operation so as to suppress a torque shock due to the shift operation. A detecting device detects a specific vehicle operating condition in which a change in a time lag between a generation of the shift control signal and an actual initiation of the shift operation in the transmission is greater than a predetermined level and produces a signal denoting the specific vehicle operating condition. Finally, a restricting device restricts the engine output control device from reducing the engine output when the specific vehicle operating condition is detected. The torque shock due to the shift operation, therefore, can be effectively suppressed.

Control system for vehicle with automatic transmission with engine

A gear-shifting shock suppressing system for a vehicle provided with an automatic transmission which shifted to a desired gear-speed on the basis of a gear-shifting signal controls the output of the engine of the vehicle in order to suppress gear-shifting shock which occurs when the automatic transmission shifts. The gear-shifting shock suppressing system detects the interval between successive two gear-shifting signals and controls the output of the engine when the interval between successive two gear-shifting signals is longer than the predetermined time in a manner different from the manner in which the gear-shifting shock suppressing system controls the output of the engine when the interval between successive two gear-shifting signals is shorter than the predetermined time.

An air-to-fuel ratio control system executes a feedback control of air-to-fuel ratio based on an output of an oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor is judged to be active when a change of the output therefrom occurs to make a fuel mixture rich. For detecting the failure or breakdown of the oxygen sensor when the feedback air-to-fuel control is suspended, the air-to-fuel ratio control system comprises an activity sensor for detecting whether the oxygen sensor is active or inactive, an air-to-fuel ratio altering device for enforcing an alteration of air-to-fuel ratio to make a fuel mixture rich, and a judging device for judging the oxygen sensor to be broken down when no activity detection is made while the alteration of air-to-fuel ratio has been effected.
