A vehicle behavior control device for controlling a vehicle equipped with a steering apparatus comprises: a PCM operable to acquire a steering speed in the steering apparatus, and, when the steering speed becomes equal to or greater than a given threshold (T) which is greater than 0, to reduce a driving force for the vehicle according to the steering speed, wherein the steering apparatus comprises a steering shaft coupled to the steering wheel and rotatable together with the steering wheel, wherein the steering shaft has a torsion bar whose torsional rigidity about a rotational axis of the steering shaft is less than a remaining portion of the steering shaft. The steering speed acquisition section is configured to acquire the steering speed of the steering apparatus at a position on the side of the front road wheels with respect to the low rigidity portion.

The present application discloses a control apparatus for electric power steering, including: a gain determination portion configured to determine a first assist gain in correspondence to a steering torque acting on a steering shaft when a driver rotates a steering wheel; and a gain adjuster which adjusts the first assist gain in response to a change in a rotation direction of the steering wheel to generate a second assist gain. The gain adjuster generates the second assist gain so as to reduce a difference between a first torque, which is required of the driver rotating the steering wheel to a predetermined rotation position, and a second torque, which is required of the driver holding the steering wheel at the rotation position.

Filters output a vibration-suppression gain for suppressing resonance of a sub frame or shimmy by performing a filter processing on a rotational angle of a motor. The filters have respective frequency characteristics that a gain becomes a maximum magnitude and a phase advances by 90&#xb0; at a cut-off angle frequency. The cut-off angle frequency of the filter is fixedly set at a resonance frequency of the sub frame. The cut-off angle frequency of the filter is variably set in accordance with a tire rotation frequency. A gain adder adds the respective gains of the filters and outputs an added magnitude to a correcting mechanism as a vibration-suppression gain. The correcting mechanism corrects a motor torque set by an assist map by using the vibration-suppression gain outputted by the gain adder.

The controller comprises a traveling-direction determination portion to determine a traveling direction of the vehicle, a traveling-speed determination portion to determine a traveling speed of the vehicle, and an indication control portion to control the visual-stimulation indicating mechanism.
