A fan motor includes a stationary portion, a rotary portion, and an impeller. The rotary portion is configured to rotate about a center axis with respect to the stationary portion through a bearing mechanism. The impeller is configured to rotate together with the rotary portion. The stationary portion includes an armature including a coil positioned around the center axis, a metal base plate arranged below the armature, and a circuit board located above or below the base plate and provided with a lead wire electrically connected to the outside. The base plate and the lead wire are isolated from each other by a protection member. By installing the protection member between the metal base plate and the lead wire, the lead wire is prevented from making direct contact with the inner peripheral edge of the metal base plate.

A motor includes a cover made of a resin material. The cover includes a first annular portion arranged to extend in an annular shape above coils, a side wall portion arranged to extend downward from an outer circumferential portion of the first annular portion, and a second annular portion arranged to extend radially outward or radially inward from a lower end portion of the side wall portion along an upper surface of a circuit board. The side wall portion is arranged to extend in an axial direction while filling in gaps between teeth on a radially inner side of radially outer end surfaces of the teeth. The coils are covered by the cover to be protected from dust, water droplets, etc. The radially outer end surfaces of the teeth are exposed from the cover, and are thus arranged to be in radial proximity to a rotor magnet.

A motor according to the present invention preferably includes a boss portion preferably includes an inner ring portion including a substantially ring shaped convex portion at an axially lower end surface thereof. The boss portion preferably includes a through hole at which a shaft is press fitted at a central portion thereof. A rotor holder including a substantially cylindrical shape includes a through hole centered about a rotary axis. The through hole and the inner ring portion of the boss portion are fitted to one another. The convex portion includes a portion plastically deformed outwardly in the radial direction to sandwich an inner circumferential surface of the rotor holder. The inner circumferential surface of the impeller cup portion includes a plurality of convex portions near an upper portion thereof. The rotor holder is press fitted into the inner circumferential surface of the impeller cup portion via the convex portions.
