In a power converting device, a controller determines a combination pattern of a first energization pattern for the first set of the at least one-phase winding and a second energization pattern for the second set of the at least one-phase winding. The first and second energization patterns respectively include at least a first energization duration for the first set of the at least one-phase winding and a second energization duration for the second set of the at least one-phase winding. The controller supplies a drive pulse signal, whose on duration is based on the determined combination pattern, to the switch to thereby control on-off operations of the switch.

An insulation failure diagnosis apparatus is provided which diagnoses presence/absence of insulation failure between a body of a vehicle and a connection path to a power supply for a traction unit. The apparatus includes a power converter circuit connected to the power supply and supplying power to an in-vehicle auxiliary unit, an outputting unit outputting an AC signal to the connection path, and a diagnosis unit diagnosing presence/absence of the insulation failure based on a current flowing through the connection path when the AC signal is outputted. The diagnosis unit includes a storage unit storing a determination value for determining the insulation failure or information for setting the determination value. The determination value or the information is obtained by measuring an electrical state quantity of the connection path depending on stray capacitance and is dielectric resistance of the connection path obtained when an AC signal is outputted to the connection path.

Insulation failure diagnosis apparatus and method of diagnosing insulation failure

A power converter for an electric rotating machine is provided which is designed to ensure a desired length of a current flywheel duration in which current is permitted to freewheel from the electric rotating machine even if the power converter is in a transient state or subjected to an unexpected change. The power converter is equipped with a controller and a switching circuit which is disposed between a power supply and windings of the electric rotating machine. The switching circuit has switches grouped into an upper and a lower arm. The controller works to control an off-operation of one of the switches of one of the upper and lower arm so as to produce a desired length of the current flywheel duration following turning off of the one of the switches, thereby minimizing a loss of rectification and avoiding the backflow of current from the power supply to the windings.

A driving force controlling apparatus for a vehicle including an electric generator and a motor for driving a wheel other than a driving wheel, with electric power from the electric generator, includes a requested electric power computing means that computes requested electric power required for operation of the motor. Target output of the electric generator is set based on the requested electric power and maximum output that the electric generator can output stably. The driving force controlling apparatus for a vehicle including the motor for driving a wheel other than a driving wheel driven by an engine, with electric power from the electric generator, enables the electric generator to stably output electric power.

Driving force controlling apparatus for vehicle

In a motor-generator control system for controlling a motor-generator, first and second sets of multiphase windings of a motor-generator are arranged to be spatially shifted in phase from each other. An allocating unit is configured to, upon input of workload request for the motor-generator, determine a first torque to be allocated to the first set of multiphase windings and a second torque to be allocated to the second set of multiphase windings. A resultant torque of the first torque and second torque meets the input workload request for the motor-generator. An energizing unit is configured to energize the first set of multiphase windings to create the first torque and energize the second set of multiphase windings to create the second torque.

Rotational speed of a vehicle wheel is detected. An actuator serves to brake the vehicle wheel. A braking condition of the actuator is derived. Speed of a vehicle is derived from the detected vehicle wheel speed and the derived braking condition of the actuator. The actuator is controlled in accordance with the detected vehicle wheel speed and the derived vehicle speed.

Anti-skid control system

Disclosed is a hydraulic pressure control system for a motor vehicle which may be employed for anti-skid control. The control system comprises a wheel braking device for providing the brake for a wheel of the vehicle under hydraulic pressure, a braking pressure switching device for performing the switching operation at least between the increasing and decreasing of the hydraulic pressure applied to the wheel braking device, and a hydraulic pressure control unit for supplying a control signal to the braking pressure switching device at a predetermined interval so that the hydraulic pressure value to be applied to the wheel braking device becomes equal to a target hydraulic pressure value. The control unit compares the target hydraulic pressure value with first and second reference values which are obtained on the basis of an estimated hydraulic pressure value estimated to apply the wheel braking device and producing the control signal in accordance with the results of the comparison.
