Provided is an image forming apparatus capable of reducing possibility that small symbols and characters become invisible without impairing user's convenience even in the case of using a nongenuine replacement part. An image forming apparatus () is provided with: an image forming portion () for forming an image; a nongenuine product judging portion () for judging whether or not a replacement part of the image forming portion () is a nongenuine product; an operation receiving portion (for example, an operating panel ()) for receiving user operation including setting operation of an image forming condition; and a control portion () for controlling image formation of the image forming portion () based on the image forming condition set from the operation receiving portion. In the image forming apparatus (), in a case where the replacement part of the image forming portion () is judged as a nongenuine product by the nongenuine product judging portion (), the control portion () prohibits setting operation concerning reduced printing among the setting operations of image forming conditions.

Image forming apparatus, system and method

A projector includes an optical arrangement and a cooling arrangement. The optical arrangement includes a light source, a filtering component, a light modulation component and a projection lens. The filtering component filters the light emitted by the light source. The light modulation component modulates the light filtered by the filtering component to form an image. The projection lens projects the image formed by the light modulation component. The cooling arrangement is arranged relative to the optical arrangement to cool the optical arrangement. The cooling arrangement includes a blower, an air duct and a heat sink. The blower blows cooling air. The air duct guides the cooling air from the blower to the filtering component along an cooling air path. The heat sink is disposed in the cooling air path within the air duct and fixedly attached to the light modulation component to thermally contact with the light modulation component.

A direction control plate is fitted near an exhaust aperture of a lamp unit, and a partition plate is fitted so as to surround the front and the bottom of the exhaust aperture. The direction control plate is fitted so as to surround three sides of the periphery of the exhaust aperture in the shape of a letter 'U'. Furthermore, the side plate is provided so as somewhat to close the exhaust aperture, and so as to be inclined by an angle &#x3b8; towards the wall of a case. If a lamp within the lamp unit should break, the direction of scattering of the broken pieces is controlled by this direction control plate, and it is possible to prevent these broken pieces from being scattered to the exterior of the device, since the broken pieces can be made to collide with the partition plate.

A printing apparatus having a standby mode and an energy saving mode, the standby mode being capable of receiving data to be printed and of starting printing processing for the received data without requiring warming-up and the energy saving mode being capable of receiving the data and of starting the printing processing after warming-up, the printing apparatus including: a print data receiving section for receiving print data from outside as the data to be printed, the print data being provided with a degree of urgency; a printing control section for changing modes between the standby mode and the energy saving mode for receiving the data and for performing control of the printing processing for the received data; and a printing section; wherein, upon the reception of the print data in the energy saving mode, the printing control section changes the mode to the standby mode for starting the printing processing or keeps the energy saving mode for suspending the printing processing based on the degree of urgency provided with the received print data.

With this projector, by forming in a lamp casing an aperture, for leading out a wire connected to an electrode terminal of a lamp, near that electrode terminal, and by fitting an insulating member which has an opening portion for leading out this wire, and a lid member which covers this opening portion, to this wire lead out aperture, even though the lamp casing is made from metal, still it is possible to ensure adequate clearances and creepage distances between the electrode terminal and the lamp casing. Furthermore it is possible to prevent light, or air which has been heated up, from leaking out from the wire lead out aperture.

This projector includes a lamp unit and a lamp unit housing unit. The lamp unit housing unit includes a substantially U-shaped insertion frame. And the lamp unit includes a lamp and a frame. Furthermore, the lamp unit includes an edge and a plate on the outside of the frame. The edge is a member which contacts against the end portion of the insertion frame in the exhaust direction, in the installed state in which the lamp unit is installed to the lamp unit housing unit. And the plate is a member which, in the installed state, contacts in the exhaust direction with its end edge portion against an installation surface formed upon the insertion frame. Moreover, in the installed state, the plate contacts in the engagement direction with its end edge portion against the aperture line which connects the two ends of the insertion frame.

This projector includes a lamp unit including a lamp which emits light for projecting an image upon a screen. This lamp unit is provided with a projector main body. Moreover, the projector includes a metal plate which is disposed, between a bottom surface of the projector main body and the lamp unit, in a situation of floating away from this bottom surface of the projector main body. The projector also includes a fan which sucks external air into the projector main body. This fan is disposed in an orientation such as to blow this sucked in external air towards the metal plate.

A light source unit mounting structure includes a light source unit, including a reflector for reflecting light of a light source on a concave reflecting surface to give a directivity; and a lamp holder, on which the light source unit is mounted by securing an opening edge part of a light emission opening of the reflector to the lamp holder. An annular flange portion around the light emission opening of the reflector mounted on a bearing surface provided at the lamp holder is elastically pressed by two pressers fastened by screws to the lamp holder, so that the flange portion is elastically pressed and retained in a thickness direction between the pressers and the bearing surface. An outer circumferential end face of the flange portion is pressed against a receiving face having a step shape provided outside of the bearing surface of the lamp holder with an outside surface of the reflector elastically pressed radially by a lateral pressure applying member fastened by a screw to the lamp holder, so that the opening edge part of the light emission opening of the reflector is elastically pressed and retained radially between the lateral pressure applying member and the receiving face.

Reference images () are read as an image for correction by an image reading section (). An error in the image reading section () is measured based on the second reference image () of the correction image. In order for a tip end portion of a holding plate not to catch up on a cover glass holder when a lamp unit is stored in a lamp storage unit, a surface of the cover glass holder which confronts the holding plate is processed into a shape which does not project, in concrete terms, into the shape of a curved surface or the shape of a sloping plane. By doing this, even though the tip end portion of the holding plate strikes against the cover glass holder, since it passes smoothly thereover without catching up thereupon, accordingly, it is possible for the lamp unit to be smoothly stored in the lamp storage unit.

A scan ID, which is operation identification information having been used for selection of an image reading condition or the like, is used for selection of a communication destination from among a plurality of host PCs having network-connection to a scanner relay apparatus. Information such as an image reading condition associated with the scan ID is sent to a host PC defined as a communication destination, and a scan command sent back from the host PC, whose protocol is converted, is sent to a scanner apparatus. Furthermore, image data sent back from the scanner apparatus is sent to the host PC.
