An endoscope system includes a processor configured to generate a clock at predetermined timing, a light source apparatus configured to irradiate white light and excitation light in a time division manner in synchronization with the clock, and an endoscope configured to perform image pickup based on irradiation timing of the light source apparatus. The processor generates a first white light image at a first clock, generates a first fluorescent image at a second clock, generates a second white light image at a third clock, and generates a third white light image at a fourth clock and superimposes the second white light image and the first fluorescent image at the fourth clock and superimposes the third white light image and the first fluorescent image at a fifth clock.

An endoscope processor includes: an acquisition circuit configured to acquire display size information on a display that is connected to the endoscope processor; a display condition setting circuit configured to set, according to the acquired display size information and properties of an imager of an endoscope that is connected to the endoscope processor, a monitor shift value representing an amount of shift between a first image and a second image corresponding to first image data and second image data, respectively, the first image data and the second image data each having parallax with respect to a same subject; and an image processor configured to shift the first image and the second image to generate display image data to be output to the display using the set monitor shift value.

An endoscope system is provided with: a processor; a light source; and an image pickup device. The processor performs control for causing reflected light images corresponding to a predetermined period before start of the fluorescence occurrence period during the fluorescence non-occurrence period, among the reflected light images, to be recorded to the first storage medium; and, furthermore, performs control for causing the reflected light images to be recorded to the first storage medium during an after-end-of-fluorescence-occurrence period corresponding to a predetermined period with an end of the fluorescence occurrence period as a start point, and performs control for causing the reflected light images not to be recorded to the first storage medium during the fluorescence non-occurrence period after an end of the after-end-of-fluorescence-occurrence period.

An image pickup system includes a stereoscopic endoscope including image pickup optical systems having a parallax therebetween and a first image pickup device and a second image pickup device, and a processor including a first photometric measurement section configured to photometrically measure a luminance value of a first image pickup signal related to the first image pickup device, a second photometric measurement section configured to measure a luminance value of a second image pickup signal related to the second image pickup device, and a control section including a threshold value comparison section configured to compare the luminance value with a threshold value. When the luminance value of either one of the first image pickup signal and the second image pickup signal exceeds the threshold value, the image pickup system performs light adjustment control of a light source based on a photometric value of the other image pickup signal.

A picture switch is performed to select a right picture and a left picture, a right picture and a right picture, or a left picture and a left picture without changing the kind and format of a video signal before and after a switch of a 2D picture and a 3D picture of an endoscopic system, and a picture shift is performed to horizontally shift the right picture and the left picture, and the pictures are then output to a monitor.

A controller for a 3D observation apparatus performing 3D observation based on parallax using a plurality of optical systems includes the following sections. A start time acquisition section obtains a start time when energization of the 3D observation apparatus is started. An interrupted time acquisition section obtains an interrupted time when previous energization of the 3D observation apparatus is interrupted. A non-active time calculation section calculates a non-active time which is a period of time between the interrupted time and the start time. A determination section determines whether or not misalignment correction to correct misalignment of optical axes of the optical systems is necessary based on the non-active time.

There is disclosed an operation microscope in which an observing and displaying system of an operating instrument are selected, and an endoscope image for observing a dead angle of the microscope and a navigation image are selectively displayed in a microscope observation field, so that a tomographic image, three-dimensionally constructed image, and the like can be selectively displayed in a display screen in accordance with a treatment position displayed in a monitor or an observation position of the operation microscope.

A surgical microscope includes an illumination optical system for illuminating a microscope visual field, an observation optical system which has an eyepiece lens and an imaging lens and allows observation of a first image of an observation target by guiding reflected light from the observation target irradiated with illumination light to the eyepiece lens from the illumination optical system, an image projection optical system for projecting a second image as image information within a portion of the microscope visual field, and visual field adjusting mechanism which has a field stop placed at an imaging position of the imaging lens and having a changeable stop shape and adjusts an area of the microscope visual field by changing the stop shape of the field stop in accordance with a projection state of the second image with respect to the microscope visual field.
